98 Degrees - 98 Degrees

They may look like just another boy group, but Ohio's 98 Degrees more likely found their role models in smooth crooners Boyz II Men than in New Kids on the Block. It was backstage at a Boyz II Men concert, in fact, that they met their manager and scored a deal, going on to platinum sales in Asia (à la 'N Sync in Germany) before having a hit on home soil. That song, "Invisible Man," is just one of many supersweet slow jams on their debut that give it that slightly more credible R&B edge (others worth checking out include "Was It Something I Didn't Say?" and "Heaven's Missing an Angel"). From Boys to Men

I have liked this group forever and I love that their music puts me in the mood to relax or clean my house. This CD is my first by them but by no chance my last. Can I please have them for my birthday? March 10, 2006

Great CD

I dislike it when others vote them down and classify them as a boyband. They're much better than that and they do not have mediorce voices. Get your ears cleaned. Their first cd was produced by Motown and features a lot of great R&B numbers which do show their vocal abilities. From their two releases "Invisible Man" and "Was it Something I Didn't Say" to their beautiful harmonies on "Take My Breath Away", "Hand in Hand" and "Heaven's Missing An Angel". If you appreciate an R&B/Contemporary sound than you're in for a treat with 98 Degrees' Debut Album. June 20, 2005

This is a good debut album by Nick & the rest of 98 Degrees. Although there could have been more Dance-Pop songs like "I Wanna Love You, " I like it. "Dreaming" is a song that never fails to make me feel emotional. Nick sings with much sincerity throughout this album and I hope he gets higher quality songs for his next solo album. The only songs I don't much like are "Invisible Man", it's decent, but shouldn't have been a single. "Hand In Hand" would have been better off this album. It just doesn't fit with the other songs. The best songs come in the second half of the album. I believe the reason why 98 Degrees wasn't more successful at the time was because they are an Urban contemporary band similar to Silk, Boyz II Men, etc. This is not really a pop band, they are a Urban male vocal group. Overall, a satisfactory effort with good vocals, lyrics and production. March 27, 2005

Come, on there is so much better music out there.

Why are you looking at this formulaic, over produced, vocally processed stuff. With guys who are mediocre singers at best, songs that are more formula than artistic expression. You want to hear a great "boy band" why don't you go get the Beatles, or the Jackson 5, or the Temptations, or want to hear some great group singing pick up something by En Vogue. Wanna hear a good singer singing great songs that they actually wrote pick up Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway. Not that I'm an old fogie or anything I love new music there is just less good new stuff out there. If you want something new that is good check out Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, or if your into pop at least Christina Aguilera can sing her but off, although the songs are kind of lame. Bottom line is there are soooo many great CDs out there by some great artists why are you looking at this? January 18, 2005

Worst album by the group!

I only liked one song, Invisible Man. The rest of this album is a bunch of mediocre to flat songs, from the lame, bland Dane Deviller and Sean Hosein ballads to the ones that Montell Jordan and a just starting Mario Winans contributed. Only Nick Lachey is the best singer out of this group and Jeff Timmons and Drew Lachey didn't sound good here. Their '98 album was much better than this fluff. It has an R&B feel, but the group doesn't know how to pull it off! They would have easily been forgotten if they had made another half baked effort like this one! December 20, 2004
