This CD is smooth listening from beginning to end. You may not know much about some of the composers on this CD, but the music is definately worth the price you pay. The last composer, Ferdinand Kauer, is represented by his 12 New Hungarian Dances. This music alone makes this CD worth buying... Actually, I heard Kauer on my local classical music station found that music on this CD. In fact, a flood destroyed almost everything he had when he was close to 80! It is hard to find anything by him that survives. Another recording of Kauer is by the Budapest Strings on Capriccio, which is equally as good as the Vienna Waltz Ensemble.
I am a Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven fan and this CD is a great change of pace. I recommend this to anyone who may want to try something different and very easy to listen to. May 14, 2003
