When I bought this CD I Completed the total collection of TBS. This CD was the last one that I have bought of this Fantastic Band. I consider "Miaow" a very special album... above "Blue is the colour". The songs "Everybody's Talkin'", "Especially For You", "Prettiest Eyes" and "Worthless Lie" are the best of this CD. If you love TBS you must buy this album. This is an import Album and is not so easy to find it. "Miaow" = 5 Stars. No doubt. February 22, 2002

Very disappointing. Too-glossy anonymous pop from a band that can do much better. Nothing that even approaches the catchy hook-laden work of their debut, or the best moments of "Blue." Better than the grim "Choke," but not much. Only consolation is the quanitity of music you get. Let's hope the promise of Shack's debut album holds up and they can take the place of TBS for all those lovers of smart, hooky pop. January 28, 2001

The best album TBS ever recorded (and unfortunately only comes as import). Pop-rock at it's best with great man-woman dialogues between Heaton and Abbot. 3 songs in the middle (from "Pretties Eyes" to "Hooligans") are worth buying this album for, but add straight-between-your-eyes "Mini-correct" along with soft "Especially for you" and you get a collection which anybody who likes good music shouldnt miss... The Beautiful South may very well be the best-kept secret in the States. Although very popular in Europe, The South never caught on in the States. It's a shame because this group is loaded with talent. "Miaow" is probably the most accessible CD they have produced to date. In typical South fashion cynical lyrics are mixed with upbeat tempos. The lyrics are at times disturbing and always thought provoking. I would describe the South's overall character as almost theatrical, with gorgeous harmonies by the talented Jacqueline Abbott and in your face lyrics by lead singer/writer Paul Heaton. The songs on "Miaow" range from the sensitive "Prettiest Eyes" to the disturbing "Mini-Correct", with a theme along the lines of "A Clockwork Orange". This CD is a MUST HAVE for your progressive music collection, it is in fact addicting and worthy of a goosebumps generating five stars. October 4, 1999
