I have read a couple of reviews on this cd and it should be pointed out that Richie Scarlett sang lead on 2 Young 2 Die. Peter sang backup on a few songs, featured primarily on Trouble Walkin'. April 18, 2008

With "Trouble Walkin'" Ace Frehley decided to follow the heavier, hard rock direction of his 1978 KISS solo album as opposed to the pop-metal direction of "Frehley's Comet" and "Second Sighting," and in doing so he created his second best solo album to date! (second only to his KISS solo.) The album starts rockin' hard with "Shot Full of Rock" and never stops! Ace's covers of "Do Ya" and "Hide Your Heart" give ELO and KISS a run for their money, respectively. "Five Card Stud" and "Lost in Limbo" are cool tunes that Rock Soldiers will love. "Trouble Walkin'", though not written by ACE, is still a very catchy and very rockin' tune. "2 Young 2 Die" is the only non-Ace lead vocal track on the disc, instead being sung by Richie Scarlett. "Back to School" is cool. However, "Remember Me" is one of my favorites on the disc! And "Fractured III" puts "Fractured Too" and "The Acorn is Spinning" to shame, and is second only to the original "Fractured Mirror." Die-hard Ace fans and casual fans will both be able to appreciate the best, and so far, last solo album of Ace Frehley! February 3, 2007

The public wasnt satisfied with Frehleys Comet's second outing "Second Sighting" so Ace dropped Tod Howarth and the use of power ballads for commercial success. and Ace brings his insane brand of guitar power rock and makes it work. Some of the stuff on here sounds like a bit like thrash metal,AC/DC style bluezy tracks, and youre standard 80's metal sound.but Ace puts his stamp of ROCK approval.Trouble Walkin features guest Vocals by Ace's former KISS band mate Peter Criss and Skid Row's Sebastian Bach. Ace is one of the most charismatic, dedicated and down right best guitar players that ever lived. these are some of his best songs.EVER
1.Shot Full of Rock-Fast,Raw,EXCELLENT.
2.Do Ya-the ELO cover,Ace of course makes it better.Rockin, catchy one of the better songs on Trouble Walkin
3.Five Card Stud-great guitar work
4.Hide Your Heart-a cover of the KISS' version from the Hot in The Shade album.Ace of course makes this song work. Ive recently listend to Paul Stanleys vocals on the original and there is absolutley NO power.
5.Lost In Limbo-another great track
6.Trouble Walkin-Sadly, one of the weaker songs.
7.2 Young 2 Die-Peter Criss and Ace Frehley both sing this one.
Peter Criss' vocals are the best since Black Diamond.
8.Back To School-Sebastian Bach and Ace Frehley share vocal duties here.
9.Remember Me-an AC/DC style presentation, you'll find yourself singing this one over and over again.
10.Fractured III-Just as flawless as Frehleys "Fractured" and "Fractured Too"

Best Songs:Shot Full of Rock,Do Ya,Remember Me

(My review scale: 1- Bad, 2- Average, 3- Good, 4-Very Good, 5- Excellent/Classic)

As I've said in some KISS reviews, the charm of Ace's songs is that he has very laid back vocals, with simple lyrics and very good guitar. There's no shortage of this on 1989's Trouble Walkin'. Ace delivers the goods to his fans in spades..heh heh the Ace of Spades...okay, forget that joke...

The album is rocking from beginnning to end, and it starts with "Shot Full Of Rock" a hard rocker in the 80's tradition. Ace then gives us another of his wonderful cover tunes in the old classic "Do Ya". Ace outdoing the original, just as he did with the Stones'"2000 Man" from KISS' Dynasty. "Five Card Stud" is an Ace tune that pumps out heavy guitar. He then covers KISS!!!! "Hide Your Heart" was a minor hit for KISS from their album Hot in the Shade. Ace takes it, changes virtually nothing about it, yet he makes it smoke in a way that KISS didn't. His vocals just swing with his guitar. While the KISS effort has it's own merits with Paul Stanley providing the usual strong vocals, Ace's version just reeks of raw rock! "Lost in Limbo" is an average tune.

What was side two in the old days, opens with an Ace swagger tune, "Trouble Walkin'". Ace lays down the law that he's in control, and to hell with anyone who wants to get in his way. You then get a couple of decent tunes, although they are a little cliche-ed, "2 Young 2 Die" and "Back To School". "Remember Me" is a wonderful Ace blues tune, that is passed off as being "live". It may very well be, although nothing in the liner notes suggests that it is. I can tell you that the audience sounds are definitely NOT live. It sounds like Ace is playing before a stadium crowd...I don't think so. To close out this album, we get the Ace intrumental, "Fractured III". A continuation of the instrumental from his previous solo albums. I normally don't care much for instrumentals, but Ace's "Mirror" tunes are brilliant! He weaves a guitar tapistry over the course of four minutes that cannot be matched!

Overall, this album could be a five-star album, but it does have a few songs that aren't really all-star calliber. Thus it gets a STRONG four star rating.

If you want to enjoy post-KISS Ace Frehley, look no furthur. This is his best solo album.

It's a shame for the fans that Ace didn't record more in the 1980's and 1990's. He was the best musical talent in KISS and his solo work proves it.

This album has vocals from ACE and guest vocals from Peter Criss! October 10, 2005
