| | I never tire of the beautiful music on this CD | |
What a wonderful CD! Hagood Hardy was a wonderful composer who fortunately left to us his legacy of beautiful music - oh how fortunate we are. If you feel you are transported to Prince Edward Island every time you watch one of the Anne of Green Gables movies and wish the movie could go on, you will enjoy this music -- even if you play it only as background music, you may start to feel pleasantly surrounded by the kindred spirits of Matthew and Marilla (my favorites), Anne, Gil, Diana, etc.
January 7, 2008 | | THE VERY BEST SOUNDTRACK! | |
THIS SOUNDTRACK PUT ME COMPLETELY INTO THE WORLD OF "ANNE OF GREEN GABLES". I MEAN, THERE ARE NO BETTER MUSIC THAT CAN POTRAY THE MAGIC IN THE MOVIE! THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDTRACKS I HAVE EVER HEARD. I WAS PULLED INTO THE MOVIE BECAUSE OF THE MUSIC IN THE BEGINNING. I WOULD NEVER HAVE PICKED UP A BOOK OR MOVIE OF ANNE IF I HADN'T HEARD THE MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND! IT IS SO ENCHANTING! I GAVE MYSELF A CHANCE ON THE SERIES BECAUSE OF THE MUSIC AND IT WAS NOT A WASTED EFFORT AT ALL. THE WHOLE SERIES IS DEFINITELY A TRUE CLASSIC THAT IS VERY ENGROSSING! IT'S A REAL SHAME MR. HAGOOD HARDY DIED BUT WE ARE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE ONE OF HIS BEST MASTERPIECE WITH US TODAY!

The composer of the Anne score music Hagood Hardy was a Jazz man, but perhaps his best work was these Celtic folk-classical tunes he put together for this movie. This music is so memorable and beautiful, with moments that are light and upbeat, or haunting, or elegant. Hardy died in 1997, but this achievement should be considered a masterpiece. Whenever I listen to it, it really brings the feelings of the movie back in a very big way. Recommended for those soothing nastalgic moments when you want to be alone.

This has to be one of the best soundtracks to what was essentially a TV show. Everyone knows the story of Anne Shirley (spelt with an 'e') and what happened to her. This is her journey in music.
All the best tracks are on here. From the song that's always played over the credits (which always makes me a bit teary), to Gilbert and Diana's music. There are many more slices of music from the film inbetween, some that I can't really identify as being Anne of Green Gables music (there's music from all three here), but there are some tracks that are instantly recognisable.
Of course the best track is the first track, simply called "Anne". That's the track that always makes me feel sad, although the last track "Together" is almost similar. "Dolly" and "Diana" include some of the more upbeat tracks, although the rest of the tracks are more slow and extremely peaceful. Good to relax to after a hard day's work. (Ha) April 17, 2004
I LOVE this cd, but then again, I am a huge Anne of Green Gables fan. Whether or not you have seen the movies, you WILL enjoy this cd. The music takes you on a wonderful journey..a musical journey back into the work of Anne Shirley. Hagood Hardy captures the essence of Anne in such a way that the music seeps into your soul filling you with warmth and happiness. Buy this cd. You will not be disappointed!
