I love the harmony of the Andrews Sisters. On this MCA compilation of some of their Christmas fare, the Sisters are right at home singing along-side the likes of Bing Crosby (Jingle Bells) and Danny Kaye (All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth), however, the album never quite gets off the ground because of the poor choices that the Andrews Sisters producers made for many of their songs. The concept that Patty Andrews and Danny Kaye are two toddlers talking about wanting their two front teeth was probably visually appealing for whatever TV Show or Movie it was recorded, however as an audio-only selection, it becomes really irritating and not funny. Other major bombs on this CD include "Angie, The Christmas Tree Angel," "I'd Like To Hitch A Ride With Santa Claus," and another duet with Bing Crosby, "The Toys Gave A Party For Pappa Santa Claus." Trite lyrics and melodies that are wearing on the ears don't help these songs ever get off the ground. On the other hand, the sisters are incomparable on Winter Wonderland. Had their originals record company seen just what an amazing talent they had in these sisters, they would have seen that sophomoric songs were not the way to go with these three amazing musicians.
December 28, 2007I have had this on cassette for years, and was getting desperate - what if the tape broke??!!! When I saw it here, I had to grab it. This is the ULTIMATE Christmas CD (next to Harry Connick's). Just listening to it makes everyone in the room want to get up and do the jump 'n jive!! Coolness to the max!!!

This budget collection contains duets with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye as well as solo recordings. It is worth noting that everything here except the two Danny Kaye duets can be found on Merry Christmas from Bing Crosby and the Andrews sisters, which I've already reviewed. However, some of you won't want to pay the higher price of that collection while others will follow my example and buy both.
The two Danny Kaye duets are A merry Christmas at Grandmother's and All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. The Bing Crosby duets featured here are Here comes Santa Claus, Twelve days of Christmas, Jingle bells, Poppa Santa Claus and Santa Claus is coming to town.
That only leaves three solo tracks - I'd like to hitch a ride with Santa, Winter wonderland and Christmas tree angel. Their million-selling classic, Christmas Island, is missing, as is Christmas candles, another of my favorites.
As a budget collection, this is fine. At the price, I can't complain. But if you only want one album of their Christmas music, buy Merry Christmas with Bing Crosby and the Andrews sisters instead. It's worth the extra cost, especially because it includes Christmas Island and Christmas candles. November 15, 2003
What a fabulous collection by the Andrews Sisters-this is a real bargain (...), too! Every song is a classic, especially when the girls are joined by Bing as well as Danny Kaye. Brings back memories of fun times, of an old-fashioned Christmas when families come home for the holidays. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and have you playing it several times over the holidays. Very highly recommended.

What a phenomenal album! This is a classic set of songs that I have been searching for. If reissued, this would be a must have that people would scramble for.
