About Engelbert Humperdinck - Engelbert Humperdinck - His Greatest Hits
Engelbert Humperdinck, who at the circa 1968 height of his career shared a manager with fellow hunk Tom Jones, has never enjoyed the campy appreciation that has come to Jones in recent years--mostly because he's way too earnest compared to the teasingly all-man singer of "What's New Pussycat" and "She's a Lady." Humperdinck certainly deserves a place on some space-age bachelor's mix tape with the quietly ebullient "Quando Quando Quando," the quietly invitational "Winter World of Love," and the quietly fatalistic "Les Bicyclettes de Belsize"--maybe yours. Or at least your dad's. --Rickey Wright Amazon.com

Love it!
very good album for fans and newcomers alike
"Release Me" begins the track set with a love ballad that could only be performed this well by the great Engelbert Humperdinck. Engelbert sings this very sweetly and his voice is full of warmth, passion and a certain masculine type of grace. Great! The music that accompanies Engelbert Humperdinck is also very well written and performed. "Quando Quando Quando" is a song that Engelbert sings to perfection; he can't wait to be with his one true love; the backup vocalists bolster Engelbert's performance and "Quando Quando Quando" leaves nothing to be desired! I love it.
"Spanish Eyes" is another highlight of this album; and Engelbert delivers this ballad with panache. Engelbert sings with all his heart and you can tell it's so when you hear him belt out this terrific ballad. Engelbert never misses a note. "A Man Without Love" has great percussion and guitar; and Engelbert sings this with a marvelous backup set of vocalists. "A Man Without Love" is a ballad that is so true about life and love that just about any guy can identify with this fine tune.
"There Goes My Everything" has a slight country flavor to it but as always when Engelbert sings it all holds its own very well. The chimes are nice and this ballad has a very pretty melody that charms me completely. It's a sad song but when Engelbert delivers it the overall effect is like listening to gold. "The Way It Used To Be" laments a love gone awry; Engelbert Humperdinck performs this with heart and soul; the drums and percussion add a lot to "The Way It Used To Be," too.
"Winter World Of Love" places Engelbert squarely front and center--right where he belongs! Listen also for the final track entitled "The Last Waltz." "The Last Waltz" is a charming ballad about finding one's true love and the keyboard arrangement greatly enhances the beauty of this number. Engelbert handles "The Last Waltz" with style and it makes a fine ending for this album.
Now I don't have any qualms with the song selection or the quality of Engelbert's performances here. I do, however, mind that they couldn't add at least another song--or maybe even two--to this CD. That's a disappointment but not a major one because Engelbert's work is so good anyway. This CD is great for both Engelbert Humperdinck fans and the more casual fan who wants a sampling of Engelbert's artistry.

Great album!!
Anyway, i am always a fan of oldies, but, i oftenest prefer compilation albums with various artist rather than a single artist.
But this album is an exception, it has all the songs that we all know.., such as "Release Me", "Quando, Quando, Quando".., "Am I That Easy To Forget ", "A Man Without Love", "There Goes My Everything", and my most favourite "The Last Waltz"..
The sound quality is awesome, it's an original recording remastered.., based on the info, it was first released back at the year of 1974, a good work for remastered this one.
Get one today for your oldies collection! April 27, 2007
