Let me first say that I thoroughly enjoyed this score from the first time I listened to it. There is no question saying that this music is deffinately not bad. I am an avid fan of the music by Hans Zimmer, of which I am constantly reminded of when I hear this soundtrack. However, there are a few minor flaws I feel needed to be pointed out. This score is heavily synthesized. I am that there are some to which this does not matter. Frankly, I believe that this style of music when used properly does fit the moivie better than an orchestral version. Still, that is my biggest flaw. The second problem I found is that the track listings are completely out of order. I'm sure that this was done to filter the exciting and powerfull tracks with the not so exitign and powerfull tracks together to keep the listener interested but it doesn't change the fact that it is an inconvenience and kind of annoying. The music on the other hand, as I have said is still top notch. If those two things do not bother you, by all means get this soundtrack. If they do bother you, they really aren't enough for you not to like it. Overall Grade: 4 out of 5. January 27, 2008

I have been a fan of James Horner, Hans Zimmer, John Debney, Danny Elfman etc. I had never heard of Trevor Rabin before this album and had always thought is was Zimmer who did this album until I bought it. It is a great album. There are many many themes that are in here and they are repeated in different ways throughout the album. Sure there are the occasional "skipper" tracks, but they are usually less than 2 minutes so you don't miss too much of the album. Armageddon Suite is awesome cause it is not in the movie and after the long slow intro, one of the themes is played with a guitar and it just keeps getting better from there. Harry And Grace Make Peace is a great track as well. Launch is awesome. Leaving, Long Distance Goodbye and Landing are all great. I would really recommend buying this album if you like The Rock soundtrack, or Pirates of the Caribbean. Or at least buy some from iTunes. March 29, 2007

Composer Trevor Rabin's work reminds me quite a bit of Hans Zimmer's work especially his melodic passages. ARMAGEDDON is yet another moving action score in the tradition of THE ROCK, GLADIATOR and CON AIR. This is a great score from Rabin that has grown more endearing with time.

Yes, it's what that was lacking in the house of an Armageddon fan.
Only one track lacks. The others are magnificent.
Extremely fast shipping, excellent product.

rating: 5 QuoteStrong Melodic Theme, Great Orchestra+Guitar scoreQuote
This score is strong; it's one of the best if not the best work done by Trevor Rabin. This score is one of my favorite simply because of the strong upbeat melodic themes across all tracks and the beautiful blend of strings and synthesized sounds and guitars make it even more capturing:

1_Armageddon Suite - 10/10 - Main theme. Melody cycled by acoustic guitars, distorted guitars, synth and strings. Beautifully magnificent.
2_Harry & Grace Make Peace - 9/10 quiet and serene, main theme is played by acoustic guitars with background strings. Beautiful.
3_AJ's Return - 8/10 Upbeat cues, Strong synth, percussion.
4_Oil Rig - 7/10 this track has some sort of old west cues done in a rock-eske mood. Lots of harmonica appearances. Very different from the rest of the score.
5_Leaving - 8/10 This track catches my attention not only because of the cool main theme making another appearance, but because of the quality of the strings. It may be that Trevor is mixing real strings with synth ones. Very nice.
6_Evacuation - 6/10 - This is a mix of dramatic cues, nothing linear.
7_Harry Arrives At Nasa 7/10 - nothing radically different here..
8_Back In Business - 8/10 - some nice blends of climax here.
9_Launch - 10/10 - A strong track, climax, melodic cues slowly presented, there a re a couple of new melodic bridges, magnificent end.
10_5 Words - 10/10 short track but very cool.
11_Underwater Simulation - 7/10 - smooth track, new cues, slowly reaching.
12_Finding Grace - 7/10 - old west theme reappearing, not a personal favorite but very well done.
13_Armadillo - 6/10 - old west theme again.
14_Short Straw - 7/10 - not bad but more of a drama filler, the melodic cues aren't given much freedom here.
15_Demands - 8/10 a nice change, cool bass and piano duo.
16_Death Of Mir - 7/10 - drama scene, a lot of synth drums, mixed cues.
17_Armageddon Piano - 9/10 - beautiful piano theme, I would give it 10/10 if it were longer!
18_Long Distance Goodbye / Landing - 9/10 - some beautiful images drawn here by strings and clean guitars on the first half of the track. Then follows the grand finale with a few newly done cues. Very nice climax for an end.

Overall this album is a must-have for anyone that likes movie scores. I've heard some of these tracks being used in hispanic series and live shows, which is just an indication of how appealing they are. Great work from Trevor Rabin. April 7, 2005
