Best of Rocio's songs on this collection

For those who like Rocio Durcal's songs, you'll find most of her nicest works on this collection. The quality of the sound is quite good, and the quantity is just right to get over any cravings on her music. My wife (who actually bought this item) loved it, and I am sure my mother will also enjoy it (I recorded it in her MP3 player as well). Good choice of songs.

Deserves at least 5 stars, but.....

Beautiful voice, beautiful melodies of the # 1 singing Lady
from Spain (she's sold over 40.000.000 records) who, as a matter
of fact, sadly passed away about a month ago. I can't give it
5 stars because of the company that released this CD: how can
you release a double CD with 32 tracks and not give any information on the authors of the songs nor one word about the
singer?? Whether it's rock, country, blues, folk or whatever
piece of music, I'm always interested on who wrote it. On this
double CD there are incredible beautiful songs that - if they
were sung in English - might hit the top 10 on Billboard. Now
I will have to find out through Google who wrote each and every
song something that will take some time. A real pity! May 3, 2006

a beautiful voice worth listening to!

The first time I heard the song "Amor Eterno," (the first cut on the first CD of this album) I was in a singing class. A young Mexicana--one of my classmates--belted it out with so much expression that I was almost moved to tears. It has the combination of beautiful melody and lovely lyrics (Eres la tristeza de mis ojos/lloro de silencio por tu amor--Translation: You are the sadness in my eyes/I cry in silence for your love) that stir your heart and are also sweeten your ears. Rocio is a true cantante de las canciones romanticas (singer of the romantic songs). Most of the music on this double CD album is either slow enough for a romantic evening, spent in the company of a lover, or is lively enough with spicy lyrics that make you think. Either the soulful Spanish songstress is beckoning the embrace of a sweetheart or turning away to reject the heartbreak from a failed romance.

My favorite tracks, by far, are: "Amor Eterno" (Track #1/CD #1), "Perdoname Olvidalo" (un duo con Juan Gabriel--he wrote this track along with "Costumbres" and "Diferentes," which are featured as tracks #1 and #8 on CD #2). Rocio's voice is best-described as purring, expressive and very sexy. She sings in a comfortable mezzo range and really captures the mood and the content of the songs in her interpretation. It is no wonder that she is so popular in her native country of Spain and throughout Latin America. This is what I like to call traditional romantic Latin music at its best. Stay close to someone you love and enjoy this album. October 27, 2004
