Jay Gordon is the master of the remix and he proved that with the first single of Candy@$$...The Green Velvet Stitches remix, while not the focalpoint of the single, is the best feature. The riff is brutal and the repeating of "loving you is, f'ing you is strange" is (while I've said before the repeating of vulgar lyrics is 'forgivable') brilliant...I can't explain it, it's just brilliant. The club 69 remixes of Blue Monday are better than the Optical vocal remix, but the DJ Dan remix is the best. The original is great, don't get me wrong, but these remixes add so much flare it's undeniable how awsome they are! March 7, 2006

I confess...I like Orgy's version of the New Order classic "Blue Monday". I like that booming techno/industrial sound that the group gives to the '80s classic. Still nothing beats the original version which is vastly superior to Orgy's rendition. I bought this single a few years ago because I had no desire to buy the entire album. It is just as well because the follow up single to "Blue Monday" sucked big time. Although I do like Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday", I thought (and still do) that the remixes on the single were pretty terrible, except for the Club 69 remix but otherwise I didn't like the rest of the remixes. "Blue Monday" does not sound good as a drum and bass song which you can hear on the Optical Vocal mix. Secondly including the Green Velvet mix of "Stitches" was pointless and also sounded terrible. I don't care for dub remixes. They just bore me. Other than the single mix, the only remix I really did like was Club 69 and that is because Club 69 didn't try to re-work the song completely like drum & bass artist (or group) Optical. I'm in a good mood right now, so I'm not going to be as critical of the 'Blue Monday' single as I was 'Stitches'. For starters, with the exception of the first track (the single mix), if you just blindly pop this CD into your player without looking at it, you'll be hard pressed to figure out what you're listening to, which isn't necessarily bad, as some of these songs come off really cool.

We start the CD off with the single version of Blue Monday... if you've got 'Candyass', you've heard this; if you have a radio, you've heard this. The second track is the Optical Vocal Mix, which is pretty much your straight-forward drums 'n' bass mix of Blue Monday, and while only 6:37 long, it feels longer than most songs on here. Track three, the Green Velvet Mix of 'Stitches', it blows. For the love of God, stop trying to remix this song, it's not possible. It's basically six minutes and eleven seconds of... looped over a monotonous tune. Just terrible, I can't say enough bad things about this "song".

My patience has paid off! Track four and five, the Club 69 Mix and Club 69 Dub, respectively, are REALLY good. They must have samples from the original New Order 'Blue Monday', because the beats from this sound IDENTICAL to New Order's version. The songs have this 80's feel to them, almost like a New Order/Orgy hybrid song, but at the same time they sound very cutting-edge, and are my personal favorites from the single. The Club 69 Mix clocks in at a whopping 8:40, while the Dub is half a minute shorter, but you'll wish both of them were longer, they're that good. Track six is the Optical Instrumental Mix, which is the Optical Vocal Mix without, you guessed it, vocals! Moving on, for track seven, we get DJ Dan! If you've read my 'Opticon' review, you'll know how much I love this guy ;-). While his 'Stitches' remix was an abomination of remixes, he does a good job of remixing 'Blue Monday', so much that you can actually recognize the song he's mixing!

Overall, this is a MUCH better buy than the 'Stitches' single. You also get the video for 'Blue Monday' in QuickTime format... while I wasn't impressed with any of the videos from 'Candyass', it's still a nice addition to the CD, and makes this a worthwhile purchase. Orgy should let Charlie Clouser, Trent Reznor, Josh Eustis or Troy Van Leeuwen remix some of their stuff, and then I'd be REALLY happy. August 6, 2001

I bought this single long after I had both of Orgy's albums. They always get great people to remix their stuff, and I listen to the Blue Monday remixes several times a week. If you like this song and dance music, then this would be a good buy for you. The original music of the song is not very prevelent on most the remixes. There is also an excellent remix of Dissention on here that I like even better than the album version. You can hear the background lyrics better and, on this remix, unlike most Orgy remixes, they left in a lot of the original music. Great beats on the whole single - and heck, the band themselves admitted to listening to the thing for four nights straight when they first heard it (they weren't involved in the remixing for this single). And the Club69 track is aptly named. Pay attention to the beat... April 14, 2001

it may not be the best thing orgy has ever done but at least it's good. orgy it a great band. their music is fun and original. as for the two people above who gave orgy such a low rating all i have to say to you is if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. i don't go around bashing the music you like. maybe this isn't the best they've ever but i bet they're making more money doing a half descent song like this than you ever could. what was the point of just saying that it sucked. i think you both should be a little more mature next time you decide to voice your opinion. it's your opinion and i respect that but if it isn't going to do any good you should just keep it to yourself. orgy is the best band i have ever heard and i hope they continue making wonderful music for a long time! this is a great cd!
