wow - a leif garrett collection in one cd. i was only 12 when leif entered the scene. he was the favorite cover of then emerging teen magazine "teen beat." his first single here in our country was "surfin' usa" which was a ctually a remake of the beach boys' hit.
as he grew older and years passed, fans saw that he coudl actually generate a hit after a hit...and so on...
my fave tracks here include "memorize your number" "when i think of you" "surfin usa" "runaround sue" and "i was looking for someone to love." this cd sounds great as the tracks were all remastered. it seems just like yesterday when leif was so popular and not nearly 30 years ago...
in an era where only few dared, leif was at the forefront of pop music, and this compilation summarizes the greatness of his short singing career.
October 3, 2007I purchased this album for the track "I Was Made For Dancing." But I love all the tracks. HOWEVER, my FAVORITE TRACK, "PUT YOUR HEAD ON MY SHOULDER," I think is one of Leif's BEST, a lot of sincere sounding heart is in this one (first time I heard Leif's version of it). Call me a romantic, but Leif's version of this track is timeless, and seems to wrap its arms around you like a loving hug. It is FLAWLESS and NATURAL flowing singing talent, like closing your eyes and your girl is there in your arms with you no matter how far away.

I WAS A TEEN AGER WHEN HE WAS ON THE RISE. I ENJOYED ONLY A FEW SONGS ON THIS CD. THEY COULD HAVE PUT MORE OF HIS GOOD STUFF ON THIS CD.

... for being able to record great-sounding pop tunes with someone of limited singing ability - Leif's covers of "The Wanderer", "Runaround Sue" and "Surfin' USA" still remain the definitive versions to date... with no less than four hit singles from his self-titled debut (an extremely rare feat back in the 70's - Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" is the only other that comes to mind), it should have been released in its entirety. As for this collection, there isn't much to it once you get past the material from the debut recording.

After reading several of the top rated reviewers here, I think it's time someone outside his family, or the people who work at his record company, had a say.
This album is complete tripe. He can't sing or dance. Still, he blows David Hasslehoff out of the water at least!
