Aphex Twin - Windowlicker

phenomenal track "windowlicker" creates goosebumps

Those of you who languish in pop culture's hackneyed realm of "popular" music are missing one of the true geniuses in the biz. Richard James leaves you stunning with this 3-track EP. The first tune builds in breathtaking increments as otherworldly beats and bass pass through the speakers in melodic joy. CD is complete with a "Hyper" rom including the video of the title track.

At any rate, this should be the first Aphex Twin CD you procure. After I recommend the following-

3) donkey rhubarb
4) hangable audio bulb (under James' pseudonym AFX)

Steer clear of "Polygon Window" and the Analogue series (save for maybe the first installment). I also advise you to think about "Selected Ambient Works" (vol. 2). The "Classics" disc is a bit outdated and for diehards only. February 17, 2008

One of the greatest tracks... EVER

This track (slash artist) is so totally off the hook that I can't believe you havent already bought this. Seriously.... you know what? Get the f*** out of here! Yeah you! The music for people who dont like music is elsewhere - search for Kelly Clarkson, then look at "Customers also bought..."
Oh- and the Chris Cunningham video for this is brilliant. May 16, 2007

Beautiful music, edited video.

All three tracks on this disc are beautiful works. I thoroughly enjoyed them all. The other reviews have covered this in detail.

However, the video included on the CD is the censored and edited version. If you desire to see the full, unedited version you'll have to buy the VHS. I'm unsure why they bothered to put an explicit content sticker on the album when they censor out any explicit content.

Besides the very dissapointing inclusion of the edited video, this EP deserves the highest praise. June 10, 2006

weird cover, good music

I went back and forth on this album from first viewing. At first I was like "cool, there's a hot chick on the cover", but then a closer look revealed that it was James himself, which repulsed me a little. However, once listening to the music itself, I loved the album. A special nod to the title track, because it is so unique and awesome sounding. Unlike others, I dont think it makes a good soundtrack to "Electric porno" but sounds sexy in its own way. March 16, 2006

Although only 3...still a trip...

Very interesting record with 3 great tracks...all very enjoyable to the average Aphex Fan...I would suggest that you at least take a listen to this before you rule it out all together....Richard has some strange idea's brewing in his head, and he expresses them here.. July 20, 2005
