For a brief period in the early eighties, Janie Fricke was the hottest lady in country music, and deservedly so, with a whole series of brilliant albums. Although Janie went out of fashion towards the end of that decade, it is surprising that so little of her music is available on CD. Several hits collections have been released, but this is the strongest yet released.

Janie's music varied in style, some of it sounding comparatively traditional, while some was more pop country. All styles are represented on this outstanding compilation. One of Janie's last commercially successful albums, Somebody else's fire, is possibly my favorite original albums. It is represented here by She's single again and Easy to please as well as the title track.

Janie also recorded many excellent covers. Please help me I'm falling (an old Hank Locklin song) and Pride (an old Ray Price song) never sounded better than they do here.

If you can find this album, it is well worth the effort. It has 23 tracks, which is six more than the more readily available Greatest hits. April 13, 2003

Finally, all of Frickie's hits on are cd!!! I've been waiting for this forever! When I was 12 yrs old I went to my first country concert and saw Janie Frickie perform. It was an incredible experience I'll never forget! After the show I got to meet her and my dad bought me a tape that had most of her hits on it. I've been so worried that the tape would break and I couldn't find a cd that had the same songs on it until now. The Anthology cd has every hit! This is a must have for anyone who grew up listening to country music in the 80's like me, or anyone who appreciates great country music! October 4, 2000

At last we have a nice CD collecting almost all of Janie's Columbia solo singles! And they still sound great. This is one to have if you ever wanted a hits collection by this wonderful country singer (her new 1999 CD "Bouncin Back" proves she STILL can sing as good as ever). Be sure to pick these both up. This one is really worth the money--a long lineup of songs that sound like old friends. I'm tempted to wish Janie would come out with a new album. But I don't know if that would be so wise in the current "climate," where old faithfuls like Reba have gone so very, very wrong in recent years. Janie Fricke is an original--one of those singers who make songs live. This cd captures the essence of what made--and makes--her one of the very best. July 2, 1999
