I am a big fan of Irene Cara's from way,way back when she did PBS' The Electric Company(I was a kid). I followed her movies: Sparkle, Roots, Fame etc. After hearing her sing and act in Sparkle(loosely based on the Supremes) it was obvious she was destined to become a star...and she did quite well through out the late 70's and 80's
Besides the obvious talents, she was quite beautiful. After Fame became a hit; she finally did an album...I can say when I first listened to this back in the day, I was disappointed because the "punch" her singing usually had was missing on some of the songs as was a hit like "Fame",but I was beginning to understand the politics of "the Industry" She recorded what she was pressured to record. There are some missteps here, but this album does not sound dated on all the tracks. It's obviously an 80's effort and that sound is prevalent, but the title track "Anyone Can See", along with "My Baby" and Don't You Throw Your Love Away" are great(Luther Vandross is prominently featured in the background). If the rest of the CD was like the aforementioned I believe this would have done better(promotion would have helped too) Don't know what Irene is up too lately as I haven't heard anything of her since about 2004, but she is loved and appreciated. Thanks for the memories Irene October 25, 2008

Sure this CD has typical 1980s production levels that sound dated yet Ms CARA still manages to demonstrate the above quality performance of a talented vocalist.

Even after having been awarded the GRAMMY AWARD for BEST POP VOCALIST, it's strange that IRENE never acheived the same degree of music stardom as SHEENA EASTON, LAURA BRANIGAN or even KIM CARNES did during that same moment in time.

However, if you love pure "right on target" POP/R&B female vocals then this is truly the product for you !

Sample something more than her traditional hit CDs: FLASHDANCE & FAME ~ ! August 15, 2003

IRENE CARA'S first album "Anyone Can See" seems rather dated just listening to it. All the songs have a particular sound from the 80's that I would rather leave behind and forget. "fame" and "out here on my own" from the movie FAME are perfect examples of the type of material I was hoping to hear more of on her first recording. Unfortunately, I feel somewhat cheated with this album.

I my opinion I think her second album "What A Feelin'" produced by GIORGIO MORODER is a vast improvement when compared to her first effort. It includes the tracks "why me?", "the dream (hold on to your dream)", "breakdance", "you took my life away", "keep on" and the memorable #1 song "flashdance... what a feeling" from the movie FLASHDANCE.

It is truly sad to see such exceptional talent from MS. CARA go to waste. I know I am not the only one who misses her heart rendering phrasing of a song. We can only imagine what would have become of IRENE'S star, if not for her ongoing legal battle with her former record label GEFFEN RECORDS.

Sporadically, singles were released in the 90's such as "rhythm of my life", "you need me (ti sento)" and "all my heart", all of which are unattainable to her fans worldwide.

Let us hope that IRENE CARA being the true professional she is, will go beyond her past and present problems and show the music business heavy weights that she is still capable of producing the goods within any recording studio she might step into. November 3, 2000

What would we do without Amazon.com providing us difficult to find music anywhere else. I just got my anxiously awaited copy of the Anyone Can See CD today. After playing my old LP countless times, what a thrill to hear this spectacular album on CD. Sounds great! Personally, I have enjoyed Anyone Can See much more than her more commercially successful efforts. I especially like her treatment of the Motown classic Reach Out I'll Be There. Every track shows a different side of this wonderful talent. For those who are only familiar with her Fame and Flashdance days, this CD may seem unusual for Irene Cara. However, it was a logial step in 1982, following her Fame exposure, in order to show off her diversity. This has always been and will probably remain a favorite album of mine. Your fans miss you, Irene! February 2, 2000

THIS IS A VERY GOOD UPDATED VERSION OF THIS DEBUT ALBUM. I HAVE THE VINYL LP AND IT SOUNDS GREAT, BUT THE CD VERSION REALLY CAPTURES THE VARIOUS INSTRUMENTS AND THE VARIOUS ARTISTS THAT SING WITH HER. KEEP RISING HIGH IRENE! MERRYGIRL56 IRENE CARA FAN CLUB MEMBER June 15, 1999
