I'm a huge Billy Idol fan because he's never repeatitive and never an imitation. I have never heard anything else even close to Cyberpunk. Every track is a brilliant mix of punk & techno music with great hooks and Idols great vocals. The albums theme becomes more revelant as technology advances. This album is like George Orwells novel, 1984. You will not be disipointed with this or any other Billy Idol Album. Billy Idol basically invents a new genre of music with every album he makes, he is that brilliant. If your not a big Billy Idol fan you are missing out! March 13, 2008

I've listened to this cd so much that I now finding myself having to replace my old, scratched, worn out one. This album has been in whatever vehicle I have owned since it was released.

Before this album I was a fan of Billy Idol, not devoted - I don't own all of his albums, but I enjoyed the stuff from the 80's. This album is completely different. I agree with other reviewers who say you can either really love it or really hate it. I really love it! My favorite songs are Shock to the System (of course), and Adam in Chains (I actually skip back to this song to relisten to it quite often). But all of the songs are incredible!

I do recommend that anyone thinking of purchasing this album sample it first to see if its right for you. But do give it a chance! February 27, 2008

What is this album? One the one hand, it's an immersive blend of punk and trance, that creates an earthy, belly-deep spasm of gratification. That's what punk is supposed to do; that's what trance aspires to, once it gets out of the heady, dry, banal electronica that too often passes for "rave".

On the other hand, its an experiment that (despite flaws) has Idol's agressive vocal instrument at its core, at times competing with an equal demand of attention from a wall of goa-influenced instrumentation.

Traditional Idol fans might want to pass this effort up and go directly to Devil's Playground, where Idol masterfully combines the lessons learned from Cyberpunk more along the lines of his base, but then they would miss out on standout, deep grooving gems like Wasteland (which samples The Road Warrior [film]), Venus, and the vibrant upbeat dance Mother Dawn - go ahead, give it a try, you'll delight in Idol's organic vocals and perhaps find room to appreciate the techno-influenced instrumentation.

This is the first Idol effort that I consistently listen to from beginning to end, and it gets high rotation on the iPod going on 15 years later. Like Devil's Playground there are straight rockers (within the context of this experimental album), chillout tracks, and the Idol sensibilities in lyrical content that we've come to expect.

Although the term is over-used, this is an album "ahead of its time", and one that I think will be pointed to as an early combination of styles that paved the way for a niche ([...]). A little too daring for the fanbase of 1993, but a straight bullseye for an audience that perhaps only now is coming into the mainstream.

Those that appreciate a post-apocalyptic esthetic or seek to combine the sounds of the Dance with more traditional rock formatting will want this album in their collection. September 28, 2007

Chalk me up as another casual Billy Idol fan until I started to listen to CYBERPUNK. As a whole, the many and varied pieces here may *not* grab you on the first or even the second listening. But eventually you come to recognize the genius and pure entertainment of one track after another, culminating in the rapturous juggernaut of MOTHER DAWN. Put it on, let it run from beginning to end a few times, and you'll be hooked for life...and regrettably sad that this album was not recognized for the Magnum Opus that it was, for Idol's unique musical career. This CD has been totally forgotten in a world of superficial lyrics. "Adam in Chains" is total genius by our bad boy Biily; he turned sorta soft for us to enjoy his beautiful Baritone voice. Billy, you turn me on when you sing "Adam in Chains" to me; I thank you for that. I can't forget to thank his relaxation guru; thanks guys. August 28, 2007
