rating: 5 QuoteA Snapshot of AmericanaQuote
During the 20's and 30's dance music was very much a local phenomenon. Nationally famous bands were only beginning to come into vogue with the advent of radio. However, regional bands supplied most of the music heard in local dances and concerts. This disc is a great selection of bands from the South. The really nice thing to hear is that they were musically very good. This is an important snapshot of the American entertainment scene in the 20's and 30's. Restoration is by John R.T. Davies, so the sound quality is the best possible for these old shellac sides. October 12, 2008

This CD Texas & Tennesee Territory Bands, is fun and essential jazz and dance music of the 20's and early 30's. This essential CD includes the complete output of such obscure bands as Blue Steele And His Orchestra, Phil Baxter And His Orchestra, Sunny Clapp And His Band O'Sunshine, and plenty more rare & hot territory bands. If you like hot jazz, you'll love this. September 18, 2000
