About Blaque - Blaque

In a spoken interlude midway through their debut album, teen R&B trio Blaque protest comparison to TLC. Never mind that everything from attitude to production on Blaque owes a lot to that zillion-selling act and that the group is a collective protégé of TLC's Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes. Not that there's anything wrong with that; in fact, while hardly earthshaking, the disc is a stylish entry in 1999's soul stakes. Blaque's material isn't always top-drawer, but several cuts make real marks, particularly the single "808" and the '60s-retro-chorused "I Do." --Rickey Wright Amazon.com

The teen pop trio Blaque has always been a mystery to me. This is their self-titled debut, which is pretty unpolished and slightly rough at the edges. It seems like the songs were randomly thrown together and put in any order. This album isn't dependable if you want something very meaningful that will change your life. But, if you want a couple high-energy tracks such as Roll With Me, 808, or I Do, then you've got it right here. There are also some pretty ballads, such as the ever-popular Time After Time, or the vocally powerful Stay By Your Side, or possibly the soft-toned Leny. But what happened to their second album, Blaque Out? It's not on Amazon, but it's on iTunes if you want to check it out. This album is pretty basic, but it's some good entertainment. In 1999, female trio Blaque came out of the gate with their first single "808". TLC immediately came to people's minds when notice was taken. And although this group resembles the ladies who were not "too proud to beg" over a decade ago and the fact that they are the discovery of the late Left Eye, the ladies of Blaque have their own thing going and it's evident with their self-titled debut. They shine on their brand of R&B which is dashed with an alternative flavor. Highlights on the set include, "Roll With Me", "I Do", "Leny", "Time After Time"(a splendid remake), "Bring It All To Me", and "Right Here Next To Me", just to name a few. Although their debut reached platinum status, it was pretty much overshadowed by the success of Destiny's Child who, at the time, were making a name for themselves with their brand of music. This album is a must-have. November 19, 2005

I remember this album when I was in the 7th grade. I fell in love with this album and played it constantly. This album blends soulful R&B with a funky alternative vibe. Each memeber has a distinctive sound. Brandi's sweet vocals,Shamari's powerful soul stylings, and Natina handles the rap installments. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember, this was 1999-2000.

Great album! I didn't know how good these girls could sing, listen. This album is glorious, from the "night club" mix-Roll With Me, to the neo-classic sound of-Mind of a King. But from ten to fourteen is when it get's OFF THE CHAIN!!!! beautiful ballads. Love the lead singers voice. This album was completely overshadowed. My favorite tracks are:
Leny
Time After Time
Release Me
Right next to me, etc...
Go get it!!! October 7, 2004
