About Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever

Ted Nugent's third and best-selling album for Epic cemented his position as a hard-rock icon. With this 1977 album the Motor City Madman loudly proclaimed that he would leave his loin-clothed, alpha-male stamp on the mangy hide of rock music. Songs such as the anthemic title track and "Sweet Sally" brought a melodic sensibility to hard rock that would later inform the music of Cheap Trick. The instrumental "Home Bound" expands on the soaring guitar line of Steve Miller's "Swingtown," and "Workin' Hard, Playin' Hard" stands as a testament to the rock & roll lifestyle rivaled only by Kiss's "Rock and Roll All Nite." This remastered reissue includes bonus live versions of "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" that testify to the sexually charged excitement of Nugent's fierce live show. --Michael Wells Amazon.com

I don't care if Ted strangles wild boars with his bare hands then shoots them with an uzi. Irrelevent. When he straps on his Gibson it is most definitely on. His guitar sound & tone are legendary. Fat and nasty. The king of feedback. Sounds on the verge of exploding. Damn I love it! Don't look for insightful lyrics or any deep meaning. That is not what Ted does. Ted's songs are about rockin',pussy, and the spirit of the wild. Nobody does it better. This album is a late 70's hard rock staple. Buy it now. April 9, 2008

One of Ted Nugent's more famous efforts, Cat Scratch Fever is a good, solid rock n' roll album. And, if the entire album showed the strength of the first four tracks, it would be a masterpiece. Unfortunately, it suffers from a weak middle, before "Fist Fightin' Son of a Gun" picks up the pace again near the end of the album.

Overall, it's good. It's just not great, unfortunately. February 7, 2008

Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever is my favorite album from him. A great classic rocker from start to finish. The famous title track is my least favorite song on here, but that one is still good with an awesome riff. If you like Ted Nugent this is a must-have CD. The music of Wang Dang Sweet Poontang is incredible, I wish it had decent lyrics. Home Bound is one of my all time favorite rock guitar instrumentals. Standout tracks include: Death by Misadventure, Live It Up, A Thousand Knives. December 24, 2007

Cat scratch fever....the 3rd solo album from Ted Nugent. By far the most intense and offending(to some people). With titles like the title track and wang dang sweet poon tang....you know some people will roll their eyes at such songs...BUT...it was the late 70's where there were still freedoms and the PC brigade was not yet alive
I was 16 when this album came out and knew that older adults might dislike this album but to us teenagers...this album tapped in to the times...
I have to chuckle at the few reviews that slam Ted for being a conservative....Boo Hoo and cry me a river about his political beliefs...I liked this album for non political reasons
"Death my misadventure" and "Live it up" are by far the best...tighest tracks on this album and the band is playing well all throughout...
A must have for any music collector.... July 31, 2007

The music is good, the vocals are strong, and the fact that he drives liberals nuts is "priceless". May 10, 2007
