This CD is a superb addition to the collection of anyone who loves Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy, Hollywood's musical sweethearts of the screen in the 30s and 40s. Although the liner notes do not indicate so, the songs on this album appear to be remastered from the films in which they were originally sung. Sound quality is clear, crisp, and bright and the harmonies of MacDonald and Eddy are as balanced and blended as they ever were. There are 22 selections on this CD and all but two are from the well-known classic operettas MacDonald and Eddy starred in. You'll instantly recognize and sing along with the many hits, from "Indian Love Call" and "Rose Marie" to
"Stouthearted Men." Great music from a simpler time when "romance" meant magic. I also highly recommend the CD Loves Old Songs.
August 31, 2005It's amazing how something as simple as this CD can fill your heart with joy and love for music. MacDonald and Eddy really take you back in time when there was no MTV to get in the way of classical music. This CD is amazing and I am sure you will love and cherish it as I do. My father and I listen to it all the time, although I like *NSYNC and all of those other bands, I even agree that kids should listen to this kind of music instead. Besides, the music that is out these days, like EMINEM and all of those other bad people, fill kids lives with bad ideas and hate towards others- however this CD will defeat the evil and bring back the good in childrens lives. Just listen to one of the songs, you will love it. Buy it today!
