I was looking for Lola Albright's "Dreamsville" album on CD, which featured songs she performed on TV's "Peter Gunn." I can't find that on disc, but this one turned up and I took a chance on it. Boy, I'm glad I did. She's got such a smooth, sexy voice, and it's used to good effect here. She doesn't have the widest range, but she's quite a charmer, performing a mix of well-known tunes and songs that were written especially for her. All the selections are excellent, especially the opener, the delightful "A Man, A Man, A Man." The backing is the kind of light jazz/pop arrangements that Julie London often favored. But Lola is a better singer than Julie, with a silkier, more girlish voice. Definitely a lucky find!
