About Various Artists - WCW Mayhem
These days entertainment is all about synergy and cross-merchandising baby, from the "free" toys at the burger joint to the pay-per-view rights, soundtrack CD, T-shirt sales, and cereal endorsements, et al. The wrestling establishment has become increasingly savvy at such activity, and this CD would seem to be the culmination of this marketing ethos. WCW Mayhem brings together new and exclusive tracks from some of the hottest hip-hop (Cypress Hill, Lyrical Giants), metal (Metallica, Slayer), and hip-hop-metal acts (Kid Rock, ICP) as well as the entrance themes for the hottest WCW superstars (from Goldberg to the Nitro Girls). Does it deliver? Hell yeah; this disc is as rowdy and entertaining, boastful and testosterone-fueled as the sport that it celebrates. --Mike McGonigal Amazon.com

| | Good except for the rap garbage | |
Great artists on here we get Slayer, Metallica, and Megadeth on one CD that alone is worth the price. But we also get some great theme music from our fav WCW stars and some rap garbage which takes away from the album. Over all 3 stars becasue of the rap garbage.
July 22, 2007IT'S SO COOL. And It's Also A Great Collecter's Item For Any WCW FAN. I Have Been Watching It. And I Just Loved It. Every WcW Wrestler Is My Favorite.

This is a pretty decent combination of WCW entrance music and hard rock and rap songs. Some people will be disappointed that the CD isn't just the entrance music, and that the themes have been cut down to about a minute each. But let's face it, wrestling entrance themes are very repetitious, with usually one basic riff being repeated over and over again on a loop until the wrestler gets in the ring. The songs by the rock and rap artists here are generally better than the entrance themes. But the highlight is the late Curt "Mr. Perfect" Henning's rendtion of "Rap is Crap".

Alright, I've seen these reviews for this, and yes it bothers me too that the themes are not studio and long perfect but this CD as some good songs. Megadeath, Metallica, Kid Rock, Slayer, and Primer 55 are my favorites of all. I hate most of the rap songs cause I don't listen to rap that much outside of Eminem. Complain all you want about the themes but how about you listen to the WHOLE CD for a change.
October 25, 2004This cd just doesnt sound good which means it was poorly produced. Any 1999 cd should have better sound quality. Like the other reviewers stated,i too found it dissapointing that the wrestlers theme songs were approximately 1 minute long each.Gotta hit the repeat button to enjoy them a little longer. They could have been longer and the cd could have done without the irrelevant remarks made here and there by the commentators. Curiously too, where is the NWO's music?
