U2 - Rattle and Hum (1988)
Facts
About U2 - Rattle and Hum
Rattle and Hum is not a film for anyone looking for an introduction to Irish band U2's career in the 1980s, but it is a vibrant portrait of an established group making its musical pilgrimage through the America it has always imagined through blues, gospel, and early rock 'n' roll. Filmmaker Phil Joanou (Heaven's Prisoners), a veteran music-video director and maker of the distractingly kinetic Three O'Clock High, finds a suitable outlet for his high energy in this juggernaut of a journey, which finds U2 collaborating with a black gospel choir and B.B. King, recording inside the legendary Sun Records studio, dropping by Graceland, and in a moment of fearlessness, performing the Beatles' "Helter Skelter" to exorcise Charles Manson's sick claim on the song. --Tom Keogh Amazon.com

Fast delivery, product arrived in good shape.
Good quality sound, black and white images. Would have liked to have the other version of Still haven't found what I'm looking for, nice Choir version, but I prefer their own version. This has 3/5, because to my musical taste 5/5 would be the "Live at Sloan Castle" U2 concert
November 30, 2008Why are you still reading reviews, or you're not a true U2 fan? Every U2 fan must have this DVD on them at all times and when challenged by a fellow U2 fan, you should have to present this or the tattoo of the cover art on your body shows your devotion. Why are you still reading, click add to cart now you bone head, (j/k, lol!) But really, go click it, now, right now; I'll wait for you to do that. Okay there, feel better, you'll not be disappointed, this is a filming before, they started all that fast cutting and flashy shaky camera angels, this is the BEST U2 DVD ever!
November 23, 2008 | | Brilliant! The cinematography amplified U2's sheer rock music power | |
Quite simply, this DVD was incredible in capturing U2's passionate concert performances and intense songs. The DVD showcases U2's "musical journey" - taking epic scenes from various concert tours they performed throughout the US. The film provided an intimate setting and, for the most part, filmed in black and white, amplified the essence of rock (-n-roll) music.
I went to one of their concerts several years ago. I paid $60 to sit at a nose-bleeder seat so high up in the arena that Bono was as big a my thumb! So, to finally have this DVD, I now can actually see them perform "live" to my favorite songs...priceless!
October 11, 2008This was a great documentary. It has some great band interviews, live performances, behind the scenes footage and a few celebrity guests like B.B. King. Even though the Joshua Tree songs were mixed in with the live blues album, Rattle & Hum, that was recorded while the band was on tour, it's a great video. Bono owns the stage when he's performing. The camera work was excellent as it really gives you a front-row seat to an intimate U2 performance. I highly recommend this DVD.
October 9, 2008I can not see any difference in quality between this Blu-ray version and the VHS video version i have.
