About The RZA - Afro Samurai
Given RZA's work on both the Ghost Dog and Kill Bill soundtracks, it's no surprise to see the venerable Wu-Tang producer tackling Afro Samurai. However, unlike the previous albums, where RZA more or less created scores, the Afro Samurai soundtrack is a mix of instrumental and conventional rap songs, featuring an eclectic mix of MCs, including Talib Kweli, GZA, True Master, and RZA himself. There are some strange tracks here, none more so than the maple syrupy R&B songs featuring Stone Mecca or Baby. The instrumentals, removed from the context of the movie, are themes rather than fully fleshed out songs but a few, like "Afro's Father Fight" are tantalizingly fast, furious, and funky. The rap songs hold some surprises, such as Q-Tip popping up on "Just a Lil Dude," or veteran Big Daddy Kane sparking off the dramatic "Cameo Afro." Fans of RZA's past albums, especially his Bobby Digital projects, will find Afro Samurai to their liking, but for those expecting a classic Wu-Tang album, they might be left lost in the oft-jarring mix of sounds. --Oliver Wang Amazon.com

I have tio say the plot was very intriguing. You have a society of the strongest rules and where the guy who is No.1 is on top and can do no wrong. No one can challange him excpet No.2. And the kicker is, everyone and his mom can challange No.2. The mini series is about No.2 and his rtrials and tribulations to get to No.1 and kill him for the murder of his father. Series stuff.
November 2, 2008Afro Samurai soundtrack is pretty good. Plus it's nice to hear the Rza churning out some extra quality beats. So if you can't choose the sword, choose Afro Samurai.
August 22, 2008I'm a big fan of the Afro DVD, so when looking at this album I was hoping for more on the AFro experience. This is what I got. Is great on the iPod, in the house up loud, or whatever. Definitely recommend it.
February 29, 2008i like the mix they did with mixing westerner mus with jap its was greatly done. how ever i think it is a little to over rated. there where way to many short instrumental and few vocal songs. some where a little odd...and ppl seem to think that samurai is koool.... like gangster kool...wish i don't think so... more like anime kool.... anyways theres at list 5 great songs and the rest are slightly above average. i give it a 4 for being so well done and balanced. it has a little bit of everything. great cd 2 listen to with others cuz it as a little of everybody style in it. recommend 4 on the road trips
