rating: 5 Possibly their best...
I've had this album since it came out, and I must say it is aging spectacularly. The sound of the songs as well as the lyrical content are just as strong and just as relevant now as they were when written. I love all of Incubus's albums, but this is my personal favorite. SCIENCE is great, but this was a good change. It loses most of the funk, but rocks pretty hard and has a more professional and polished sound. The music is awesome, and Brandon's lyrics are deep and thought-provoking. They convey a desire to be an individual and have your own beliefs, not just conform. What he sings, in his absolutely gorgeous voice, can really connect with anyone, but particularly speaks to anyone going through a transitional period in their life or who is sick of the corporate-mentality of the world. 5 stars, without a doubt. rating: 4 Pretty good, but not their best.
This is the album with "Drive" and "Stellar," the two songs that sky-rocketed Incubus to stardom. If you're new to Incubus or played Guitar Hero 1, I guess this is a decent place to start.

Some fans say that this is where the band "sold out," even if that's not the case at all. Incubus has become more "radio-friendly" from this record on, but the quality of their music hasn't diminished one bit. With "Make Yourself," the band further refined its sound and put out their most consistent record yet.

Every track is catchy and well-written, with awesome choruses, memorable verses and all sorts of great music behind Brandon's ever-evolving vocals. I think they've done better, but there's no question that "Make Yourself" is a pivotal album in the Incubus discography. March 30, 2008

rating: 3 I loved you once...
It all seems to be standard, somewhat predictable, angry metal. There are a few surprises though -

Privilege, Pardon Me, Drive, Clean and I Miss You.

The rest is OK. Nothing groundbreaking, but it is a decent release from a genuinely good Rock band. Yes, I said Rock. I consider them one of the few REAL Rock bands left! ^_^b

By far not a bad release...

rating: 4 My favorite Incubus cd.
This is the ultimate Incubus album because it has the best mix of all the different elements that make this band. It has some aggressive rockers, some trippier, softer songs, and scratching is prevalent too.

Check out the hit songs: "Privilege", "Drive", "Stellar", and "Pardon Me", but really, this is the best of their albums from start to finish. I think there are only two songs I don't care for.

"Pardon Me" is one of my favorite songs of the late 90s. To me, that song is the best that Incubus has written.
