What a thoughtful, atmospheric album from an (the) under-rated genious! A masterpiece to say the least! August 15, 2008

This cd will take awhile to grow on you because it is so cold and different than most of Gary's other works. But as you will realize, it is a masterpiece and utterly timeless......take a slow car to China...
and very intricate in meanings and sounds...

There isn't a negative word I can possibly say about "Dance." Coming at a time where Gary'd said "forget it" to his intense fame, the album was quite a risk. And today, I daresay it's impossible to imagine a top-40 artist taking such an enormous artistic risk as this. An A-side with 4 sedate, meditative tracks, then a B with a litany of styles, tempos and moods?

Unbelievably brilliant, from the first note to the last. "Crash" gives me goosebumps every single time, and "Stories" is pure gorgeousness.

And the inclusion here of the formerly-unreleased title track is absolutely worth the price of the disc. Maybe I can say one negative thing: Gary, "Dance" is one of your finest, most oblique ballads ever! Why not release it in '82?

Vital. You must have this record in your collection. I'd give it fifteen stars if I could. November 23, 2006

Dance deserves much more critical acclaim than it got or gets. It's a superb album that features some wonderful tracks containing some glorious music. Without doubt one of his best albums and this remastered CD gets better every time you play it! October 21, 2006

when i first heard this album, i wasnt really too impressed. i mean..it was a far cry from pleasure priciple and replicas and even my personal favorite at the time "pure."

as time passed and pleasure priciple, telekon, and replicas got old fast, dance stuck with me as being a true masterpiece and work of art..i mean along with sacrifice, pure, exile, and jagged, i would say that numan is at his best here.

he really starts to come out of being an 80's novelty act on this record. i actually would go as far to say that this is better than the preceding albums...yeah, it isnt as popular or acknowledged, but it is deep and inspiring album that takes you into a different somewhat melancholy world...i can see some smashing pumpkins influence here for sure!

yeah, at the time im writing this, i have listened to "cry the clock said" about 5 or 6 times. get this one as soon as possible you new numan fans! August 8, 2006
