About Ice Cube - War & Peace, Vol.2 (The Peace Disc)

Is it too obvious to note that there's little peace to be found on the second volume of Ice Cube's would-be conceptual set? Throughout The Peace Disc, Cube and guests return to the theme "Keep it gangsta"--which at least partly means projecting an image of embattled, weary, but proud warriors at every turn. While strongly produced and delivered, the songs generally don't signify much that we haven't heard before. A few party tracks ("You Can Do It") and the somewhat softhearted "Until We Rich" stand out, but there's little here really worth mentioning in the same breath as Cube classics as far afield as "It Was a Good Day" and "When I Get to Heaven." --Rickey Wright Amazon.com

I was extremely dissapointed with the War disc of the War And Peace series but I was still going to give Cube another shot. Even though this album is a far cry from Amerikkkaz Most Wanted, Death Certificate, Lethal Injection etc, this is a lot better than the album that came before. The album kicks off with Hello(featuring Dr Dre and Mc Ren), a kick a** banger that reminds us of the NWA days. You Aint Gotta Lie To Kick It is superb as Ice Cube busts energized verses over a lively track and I'm sorry but Chris Rock was not funny at all on here! The Gutter S***(featuring Jayo Felony, Gangsta and Squeak Ru) and Supreme Hustle are two other higlights and Until We Rich which features Krayzie Bone wasnt a bad first single for the album. There are some skip moments though. You Can Do It(featuring Mack 10 and corny a** Ms Toi) is a lame club record that sucked on The Next Friday soundtrack and it sucks now. Gotta Be Insanity and Can You Bounce are pathetic attempts at club music that Cube should have reneged on. Roll All Day is weak storytelling joint where Cube talks about picking up a stray chick that would later drive away with his vehicle. and Record Company Pimpin is an honorable mention because even though he talked about something of substance(the woes of the music industry), the song is pale in comparison the songs he had back in the days of Predator and Bootlegs and B-sides. The album closes off with the awesome N**** Of The Century. Bottom Line: The Peace disc destroys any memory of the drab War disc. The production was a lot better and Ice Cube sounds better on here than he did on Vol 1. June 19, 2007

War And Piece Vol. 2 is another good CD from Ice Cube. The best tracks are Hello, The Gutter ****, Until We Rich, Got To Be Insanity, Roll All Day, Can You Bounce, and Waitin' Ta Hate. November 3, 2006

Ice Cube is back for his 6th solo with the Peace Disc. This may be my favorite album from Cube (close with "Lethal Injection"). His lyrics are much different then his first few albums and the beats changed with tthe times but it's still nice to hear from Cube. With 13 songs, none ar ebad, 5 are ok, 1 is almost a classic and the rest are good. Guests are on 4 songs so you still get enough Cube to satisfy you. Production is decent as well, Chuckey Thompson & One Eye each do 3 songs, Puff Daddy, Younglord, Bud'da, Battlecat, Dr. Dre, T-Bone and Charley Bear all do 1 song. A must have album for fans of Ice Cube.
