This album is totally essential. Do I really need to say more? scott ians riffs fly all over the place and crush you with their weight, charly benante prooves that he IS faster than dave lombardo, the use of blast beats on this album was extremely uncommon at the time, and so was the mix of hardcore punk and metal for that matter. SOD did it better than everyone else, and no self respecting metalhead should be without speak english or die. One other thing, the lyrics are hilarious and NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Im tired of people trying to say that S.O.D. is a white supremacist band. If you pay attention they also have a song called united forces that is criticizing racism and predjudice. Why would they play a show in JAPAN, if they were racist? Idiots. just listen to what this album has to offer and grow a pair, if youre so offended by it go back to watching the OC.
August 30, 2008This was a great upgrade. The remastered sound quality is great and the extra/lives tracks are cool. I only wish some of the covers they do live were on here. I think the Live at the Budokan disc has these but an all-inclusive disc would have been nice. Still an awesome purchase. Trade up, folks.

This was the album that molded a generation of head bangers in the 80's. I had forgotten how cool this album was. Whaat's that noise? Milano Mosh.
Ha! the word "mosh" was a dance we created listening to these guys. If you liked Exodus and the toxic waltz, then you will want to have this D in your collection.
May 5, 2008Whether it be a slow crushing beat or super-swift killing tempo, the Stormtroopers of Death never let you down. Merciless thrashing, which doesn't let you go once you get into the pit. This great platinum edition of S.O.D.'s classic "Speak English or Die" serves both the modern and older friend of thrash metal. Besides the studio tracks, the platinum edition includes some live excerpts, which are totally fantastic. With S.O.D.'s devastating music and humorous lyrics and themes, one can't do anything but to blast with this and yell with others: "KILL YOURSELF, KILL YOURSELF, WHY DON'T YOU KILL YOURSELF?!"
April 11, 2008When this album came out, it had a huge impact among my metalhead and punk friends and the "hardcore" music scene. I wore out my LP, everyone had it on tape, and when the CD first came out I got it right away to replace my tattered record album. Unfortunatly I lent it to a friend who lost it never to be found. So here I was years later dying to hear that amazing March of the SOD so I ordered the "special silver" edition from Amazon, because it was cheaper than any copies of the original or silver CD on the famous auction site. SOD's Speak English or Die is a thrashmetal hardcore masterpiece totally worthy of five stars. It's a classic for sure and it's held up well, sounding just as fresh in 2008 as it did in 1987. It's short, so it flys by leaving the listener longing for more (making the bonus tracks here a nice addition). Charlie's drumming is more powerful here than anything from Anthrax, and Ian's guitar riffs are full of speed, aggression, and attitude. This was the album that made everyone say "Charlie is better than Lars!" Heck Charlie gives Dave Lombardo a run on this one. The lyrics are not politically correct ("F... the Middle East," "Speak English or Die"), sometimes satire ("Anti-Procrastination Song"), sometimes silly ("Milk") , often offensive ("Pre-Menstrual Princess Blues," "The Ballad Of Jimi Hendrix"), yet throughout runs an interesting commentary that was relevant then and still is today. Very good stuff. Very hard core rocking stuff. If you don't have this CD, you don't know thrash. This the real deal, not "nu metal" garbage or record-company product. If you like Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, or any heavy metal... Get it or die trying, that's an order! Standout tracks: March of the SOD, Sargent D and The SOD, Kill Yourself, Speak English Or Die, Freddy Kreuger, Milk.
