About Various Artists - Family Values Tour 1999 (Special Packaging)

The joke's starting to look a little worn around the edges. It's facile to observe that the people who toss the phrase "family values" around don't have Limp Bizkit, Korn, Filter, or Primus in mind when they talk about wholesome entertainment. Well, duh. That said, this a solid collection for those who like the aforementioned bands and their allies, though just about all of this stuff is available in other versions. One highlight is Staind's heavy-duty "Mudshovel," though the best performances overall are from Limp Bizkit, which explains why they provide 4 of the 16 tracks on the album and no other act serves up more than 2. Tracks from Method Man and the Crystal Method weirdly break up the metal that dominates, and there's the obligatory acoustic bonus track, featuring Aaron Lewis of Staind and Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. --Genevieve Williams Amazon.com

If you have the choice, buy the regular packaging. The special packaging is [bad]...It's just an all pink case with a plastic covering showing the track listings. There is no booklet, but it does come with a cool pack of trading cards (And strangely enough, a pack of gum!)

So after you start chewing the gum you start listening to the album:
1. Break Stuff- 10/10- Better than the recorded version!
2. Laquer Head - 8/10- Being a bass guitar player, I find Primus's tracks memorable for the awsome bass, but nothing else.
3. Mudshovel - 10/10- Staind is truly great live, and this track shows.
4. Falling Away From Me - 9/10- Jon Davis slips a bit in his singing...
5. Rockwilder - I am a big fan of Red and Meth, and this is an incredible track-5/5
6. Hey Man, Nice Shot - 8/10- Filter's performance made me want to look more into them, becuase I hadn't liked them before!
7. Rearranged - 10/10-Probably Limp Bizkit's best performance on the CD
8. A.D.I.D.A.S./Good God- 10/10- Best song on the whole CD, hands down!
9. My Name Is Mud - 5/10- Even the bass isn't memorable on this one!
10. Welcome To The Fold - 9/10- A better performance than their first...
11. Keep Hope Alive - 8/10- Good for techno music, but I'm not the biggest fan of that genre...
12. I Would For You - 8/10- Great cover of a great song, just a little plain. Durst's remarks to the audience are very amusing!
13. Nookie - 10/10- Great performance by Limp Bizkit, but Durst has the audience say part of the song (I've seen it live), but it was muted out in the studio.
14. Outside - 10/10- Great, soothing song, but Fred Durst broke the soothing with his dirty mouth January 4, 2002

This CD features tracks from the second Family Values Tour and this time the tour suffers from not having a real line-up like the 98 version had. Instead of a tour with five bands and different openers only Limp Bizkit and Filter were on the entire tour. Still there's a lot of good contricutions from the other bands like Korn and Primus and (the at that time unknown band) Staind. Korn rocks it out with Falling Away From Me, probably the first time that song was played like on the record. The second track from Korn (a medley of ADIDAS and Good God) is a killer track as well, but not as good as the other tracks.
Primus rocks too, in their usual witty rock style way. Staind has their big hitter, Mudshovel, on the record. Good song and good playing, still I would rather have heard Home or Suffocate from Dysfunction. There's tracks by Method Man/Redman and the Crystal Method too, but they [are bad], man! It's not that they're bad, they just don't fit in. Filter rocks better than any of the other groups, playing their first and their new hits, Hey Man and Welcome to the Fold. Limp Bizkit is good too, but their performances are too average to be really good in this content, although I Would For You is a killer song! They should play much more, but that would probably destroy the song. First I wanted to give this CD 3 stars but because of the groups and that it is a good CD I gave it 4. You might wanna buy the first CD before this one and probably also the new when it comes out before you buy this one. September 8, 2001

Family Values '99 is the best CD I own! Limp Bizkit is my favorite band, and I LOVE KoRn, Filter, and Staind, so for me, this CD couldn't really get any better! I went to the actual tour last fall, and this CD is almost as great as the live tour was. You can hear the roars of the crowd in the backround, and the bands are better than they are on their CD's! Every track on this CD is awesome, and it lets you hear your favorite bands play your favorite songs live... I mean, what could be better than that? For all you Limp Bizkit, Primus, Staind, Korn, Methodman, Redman, and Crystal Method fans out there, this is the CD to get! ALSO: check out the bonus track (called OUTSIDE) with Staind and Fred Durst, and I WOULD FOR YOU by Limp Bizkit! July 12, 2000
