I purchased this CD as a replacement for my father, as he had lost his copy. He's not one to listen to music, but this was one CD he raved about. We opened it up so I could see what he was talking about...and I had to listen to the entire CD right then and there! I was very impressed with the entire CD...I would recommend this to anyone!
March 21, 2008A lot of songs and most are very good. The acoustic Dwight proves his talent as an ARTIST, singer and performer.
March 8, 2008This is Dwight at his best. His vocal mastery of his work shines through in this one without the distraction of the rest of the band. If you enjoy acoustic music, this is a must have.
December 21, 2007 | | Can't live without this stuff. fyi I wanted to rate it 10 star! | |
I have followed Dwight for 25 years. His music is ever evolving and recreating. I have listened to his cassettes till they wore away with use. I graduated to only cd's which I play non-stop. I can't get enough of his music and this cd is constantly used. Thank God, there is something to keep me holding on!

This is better than any other acoustic recording covering an artist's back-catalogue that I've heard. Dwight presents the songs, each and every one in a fresh, uncluttered way without a whiff of superfluity or opportunism. He carries this off, all 25 songs, with aplomb. This is fine country music, stripped back and bare so that only the voice and rythm carry each song along with honesty and artistic integrity. Dwight sails close to the wind lyrically, yet manages to avoid any hint of schmaltz. Recommended for lovers of the sweet country twang and that high lonesome sound. I was left wondering how awesome a collaboration between the great Ralph Stanley and Dwight Yoakum might sound - until recently, when I fortuitously found a copy of "Dwight's Used Records". Recommended!
