User Reviews
Average user review:The early 80's was a good time for Dutch pop in the Netherlands. Most popular were Doe Maar, with their music based on ska and reggae, and very strong lyrics about other things than just 'I love you'. They become so popular that they didn't enjoy themselves when giving concerts, or indeed just living their own lives (with fans in their backgardens). Therefore they split up in 1984, which was a great loss for the Dutch pop scene. For some reason they made this album recently, which was a huge success again. Their music hasn't changed much, although it is obvious that they have used modern-day technology in the production. The only difference is the use of some rap (I think the rapper is from the Dutch rap group Osdorp Posse), but this is not a problem at all. Great stuff! April 20, 2001
Doe Maar is Spectacular!
Klaar picks up where Doe Maar left off. They stay true to their eclectic style of Ska, Reggae, Roots rhythm, and Ambient and Trance Synth flavor, but they take it one step further, adding incredible musicianship to the mix, with some acoustic guitar accompaniment. They have truly matured into One of the Greatest Bands in the World, if they weren't already. I'm having a great time listening to it and learning Dutch at the same time. It was definitely worth the delay in shipping to get this one direct from Holland. Buy it! August 3, 2000
