THIS COMPACT DISC ARRIVED IN A CONDITION THAT CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS "POOR-VERY POOR". THERE ARE TOO MANY SCRATCHES TO COUNT ON IT, WHICH WOULD BE ALL RIGHT IF THEY DID NOT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS WITH PLAYBACK. THEY DO. HALF OF THE SONGS DON'T PLAY THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH (YES, I'VE TRIED MANY DIFFERENT CD PLAYERS AND TRIED RIPPING IT TO MY BRAND NEW COMPUTER, WHICH USUALLY TAKES THE DATA THAT SKIPS AND SCRATCHES IN NORMAL CD PLAYERS AND MAKES A FLAWLESS COPY, THUS I CAN MAKE A FLAWLESS COPY-BUT EVEN THIS DID NOT WORK). THE SONGS WILL START TO SKIP AND WON'T BE ABLE TO GET PAST THE PART THAT IS SKIPPING. I DIDN'T BUY THIS CD TO HAVE ACCESS TO HALF OF THE SONGS, AND THE PRODUCT WAS INACCURATELY DESCRIBED BY SELLER-BASICALLY I GOT SCREWED. October 18, 2008

Jets to Brazil's Blake Schwarzenbach, with his nasal cold and fake British Elvis Costello-like accent, writes testimonies of love unfulfilled like he's sitting in a stoned haze, lifting his eyes momentarily out of the warm mist, looking around, and returning, dismayed, but not discouraged, to the sheltering comfort of his nothing, protected world, where you'll find a poet's grace for the perfect sentiment, ("If I cried a river for you, would you swim in it some sunny afternoon?"), cosmic imagery, ("Do the stars conspire to kill us off with loneliness?"), lazy guitar fueled summery ballads, ("summer dress your hair's wet, and gets into our kisses"), and sharp hooks and riffs so simply manipulative you'll feel tinges of guilt hitting the repeat button on a guitar riff that even The Knack would reject as too common, ("Little Light"). It's an addictive, melodic, and even companionable album, like comfort from a friend whose love life is so screwed up , you feel that much better about your own. May 30, 2007

The only Jets to Brazil album to buy is "orange rhyming dictionary" ;that album is fresh, alive, thought provoking....this album is cute, stale, pop that has no direction. How people could of compared it to "beatle-ism" is beyond my reasoning. The band will break up soon due to its stale crooning..better so maybe he could get his soul and edge back. Blake Schwarzenbach fans will buy this and (rightfully) enjoy it. The material is not quite as strong as O.R.D., but any misgivings will be compensated for when you get to the SONG O.R.D.. Anyway, can't make the same record over and over. February 3, 2006

I am huge Jawbreaker fan and as a Jawbreaker fan you have are used to angular aggressive music that changes tempos from song to song and sometimes within the same song. Jawbreaker was ahead of its time. I think a lot of people who have never listened to them believe they are some sort of pop/punk flash in the pan and that just simply isn't true. they have to be one of the most influential bands of the 90's with Nirvana and Green Day. The reason why Jets to Brazil gets so over scrutinized is because a certain singer/guitarist was in the oh so influential band. If Jawbreaker hadn't been so great than JTB albums wouldn't get bombarded with comparisons. Unfortunaley they lo longer exist but if Blake records with another band or releases a solo album he will get ripped by Jawbreaker fans. It's sad but its true. This album is not bad but is I would get Orange Ryming Dictionary first to get used to their mellow tempos and style. May 5, 2005
