About Nutty Professor II: The Klumps
Just because a movie is a comedy doesn't mean that the music accompanying it is a joke. No, often the opposite is true. You don't need music upstaging the actors. What if it gets more laughs? So the sequel to the Nutty Professor features an all-star cast of R&B and hip-hop stars who do the serious stuff best. The smooth R&B tracks are offset by ferocious hip-hop grooves, creating a constantly shifting scene of alternating moods. Just as sentimentality hits its peak with Case's "Missing You," things are seriously shaken up by Method Man's "Even If." Sometimes the extremes seem a but much. Do Brian McKnight fans want to share time with Sisqo (featuring Foxy Brown) and Eminem (here with Redman), and vice versa? This may be a case where hearing it all in the context of the movie would help listeners make the less-than-obvious connections. As a special enticement, the final track is a preview from the new LL Cool J album, G.O.A.T.--Rob O'Connor Amazon.com

This is a phenomenial soundtrack that has a unique balance of hip-hop and r&b from great artists, you could play it all the way through from Janet Jackson's "Doesn't Really Matter" to LL Cool J's "G.O.A.T. Preview"(which is also one of the better hip-hop albums in recent years btw), it'd make a great addition to your music collection if you don't have it already.
December 28, 2007don't let the mess that was the first nutty professor soundtrack scare you from getting this CD. It's filled with hot r&b and hip hop numbers from talented artists including janet jackson, r.kelly, jay z & method man.
January 2, 2007I bought this CD because my favorite singer janet jackson was co starring in the film and wrote a wonderful hit song for the soundtrack which went to #1 for 3 weeks in summer 2000. I had also enjoyed the soundtrack of the first version of nutty professor so naturally I bought this one. It's filled with great r&b and hip hop numbers from artists of that time as well as some people less known. Hey Papi is a catchy Jay Z number, Ijustwannasing was annoying when I first heard it, but the sound was fresh for mainstream r&b music at the time and it grew on me, a remix of thong song with foxy brown was included to capitalize on the popularity of that song, no you didn't say and get with me were nice r&b and dance songs that are also the catchiest on the album, method man had some great beats on this CD too, very exciting. R Kelly, Montell Jordan, Case and Brian McKnight also had some beautiful slow ballads. But this CD is worth it for janet alone and ya'll need to give her some props cause she saved the film!
April 27, 2005The soundtrack to an absolutely horrible movie was centered around hip-hop, naturally and features one of the best rap songs in the past decade, Jay-Z's "Hey Papi". It is a tremendous look at a young boy growing up, wondering if his fathers lifestyle is completely normal. The sound systems to it are out of this world, and bringing a real boy to repeat the title and not Jay is gold, or should I say platinum? There are other fairly enjoyable tracks to this cd, including costar Janet Jackson's "Doesn't Really Matter" and the infamous "Thong Song", among others. It was refreshing to not have to hear any scenes from the awful movie in the soundtrack.
A few of the songs are a little uncommon and unenjoyable, sounding like a combination of rap and raggae that just doesn't quite fit. But, because of one of the songs, it is well worth your time. February 13, 2001
the nutty professor 2 album is really good. it had a good combination of rNb and hiphop. the best hiphop song is either the hilarious duo of eminem and redman on off the wall or let me be by eve. memphis bleek outshines jigga and amil on hey papi and even if by method man is classic wu-tang. my only dissapointment in the hiphop area is im gonna crawl by dmx because the lyrics are stupid. as for rNb my favorite is do you remeber by montell jordan. i usually don't appreciate rNb but this is a perfect song about how it was back in the day. rNb dissapointments are just friends by sonny because its bluesy and boring, and thong song uncensored. foxy brown adds nothing to this already horrible song in fact making it worse. most of the beats are either bass or keyboard tho timbaland provides a funky guitar beat and shorty101's song has more of a pop beat. if u like hiphop and rNb in general pick this album up. peace out.
