About Boyz II Men - Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya

In the early '90s there was no hotter group in R&B than Boyz II Men. The Philadelphia foursome were smoother than their hometown brand of cream cheese, and they shattered chart records with lush, smartly crafted ballads. They also almost single-handedly brought the art of harmony singing back to pop music and paved the way (don't hate them) for the succeeding onslaught of (lesser) boy bands and teen idols. The big news isn't just that the group is back on the scene, ready to reclaim their crown. It's that this CD is self penned and self produced; and the low-key-but-pointed title indicates that the group, who always relied less on image than on musicality, is ready to prove that substance does matter. That the foursome, who still sound great, wrote this album is no minor detail because, at their height, Boyz II Men were the recipients of some of the best songs that serial hitmakers such as Jam and Lewis and Babyface had in their respective trick bags. On this, their fifth CD, the group works without that creative safety net, and it's clear that the time in the studio with the aforementioned hitmakers was well spent. The single "Passing You By" is heartfelt, sensitive, and anchored with a memorable melody. Better still is "Dreams," a song that, with its twists and turns and heartachey emotion, might be one of Boyz II Men's most beautiful tracks to date. They have created a very soulful, very adult, and very good record. Call it a comeback. --Amy Linden Amazon.com

This is far from a 4 or 5 start outing. However there is the stand out track "I finally know". I play this one several times in a row when it comes ont my mp3 player. Too bad the rest of the CD wasn't this good. March 29, 2007

I love this album! My girl hates it, 'cause I simply overplayed it (sorry for that). The original BIIM harmony (bringing back the cooleyhighharmony days) make this album so unique! It's so much better than "Full circle", which I personally didn't like at all! This album wasn't as successful as II and Evolution, simply because it's not as commercial as these previous releases. Further, promotion for this cd was close to zero. If you like the Boyz you should have all of their albums up to this release. Peace out! January 8, 2004

I'm sure if the Boyz could pick their favorite Album, this would be it. Why? Because they produced it and gave it their own names. I'm sure I don't need to tell y'all how good it is. The thing I admire most looking back and I still do is how they always keep experimenting with different sounds. In this Album it was latin vibes, like in 'beautiful women'. I still can't believe this wasn't released as a single. There is jazz in 'Step on up' and even though I hated it at first, 'bounce, shake and swing' is a club track (Don't know whether it's techno or house. I respect that. Of course there's 'pass you by' whose instrumental guitar driven arrangement I loved. Good job Shawn. I felt it was courageous to release it as a first single, went unrewarded but the fans loved it, I'm sure. Anyway if you are a Boyz ii men fan, get it, if not, enjoy the ride. January 8, 2004

All what I can say is that... this album is the best album ever of my all collection, sweet rhymes mixed with legendary voices that sweeps into your soul and never leave you alone without imaginning and illsutrating yourself flying in heaven... Whenever I go out anywhere, this album is like a must to my Walkman, and seriously... Boyz II Men are just growing more and more. I can't tell what's my favorite song, cause every single song is a world by it self... and it is such an amazing combination between all types of R&B styles in just one disc that is really a breath taking... and if you consider yourself a good R&B listenner, you should get this one right streight from the closest store RIGHT NOW !!!
