About Cam'ron - S.D.E.

If you want street beats, clever rhymes, and top-notch guest appearances, then Cam'ron's sophomore effort, S.D.E. (the title stands for sports, drugs, and entertainment) is worth every cent you pay for it. It's a jambalaya of strings, keys, and heavy bass lines: Cam gives the listener an album strictly for the streets. Destiny's Child add background to Cam's autobiography on "Do It Again." A Jay-Z vocal sample cleverly adds to the gutter flavor of the title track, and ODB adds a late plea to free Mike Tyson on "Violence." Cam demonstrates true lyrical dexterity on cuts like "That's Me," and "My 'Hood," which borrows a hook from Edwin Starr's War. Even Mobb Deep's Prodigy adds a complementary hand on the eerie "Losin' Weight." Sure, a few tracks lag, but as a whole, S.D.E takes Cam'ron a few steps closer to musical greatness. --Kenji Jasper Amazon.com

I wished i never did pick this album up at the store. He's trying to be something that he is not.A gangsta. This album is too weak. The singles "let me know and what the world means to you" are garabage. He could of did better than this. November 12, 2006

Cam'ron was never a great Mc but he had potential to be one. This album was proof of his potential. There are tracks where he shines bright like Double Up(feat Juelz), Where Im From(feat Dutch and Spade who cam floored on the track) and Losin Weight(feat a tight performance by Prodigy). He also shines when he tries his hands at songs of substance. Do it Again(feat Jimmy Jones) and Sports, Drugs and Entertainment. That's Me is a good start off track. What weighs this album down are Cam's pathetic attempts to reach the commercial audience with foolishness like What Means The World To You, Freak, All The Chickens and F*** You At(feat Nore's weak a**). Whatever is painfully bad and Come Kill Me sounds like the prototype for every other silly record that Cam came out with after this album. My Hood is another weak track that is edited for some reason. I gave Let Me Know a pass but Violence feat the late ODB is straight up dumb. If You can look past these flaws you will find that S.D.E. is Cam'ron's best album. Unfortunatley it all goes downhill after this album. Standouts: DO IT AGAIN, WHAT I GOTTA LIVE FOR, DOUBLE UP, LOSIN WEIGHT, WHERE I'M FROM and LET ME KNOW. October 6, 2006

This album so for will and better be known to the world as "Cam at his greatest". S.D.E. (Sports,Drugs and Entetainment) is the best that I've heard Cam go hard on. If anyone out there ever slept on this album , take a listen then you'll know that Cam is serious. I believe this is why people think Cam fell off now because they know what he did in these times. I ask the question, Why do you think that Killa was recognized by B.I.G. people at the time? You may think hookups but I say Diamond in the ruff. Klassic, LET ME KNOW... September 19, 2005
