About Xzibit - Restless
With two critically praised albums to his credit, and over 30 guest appearances on other artists' tracks in 1999 alone, Xzibit is, as Snoop Dogg phrases it, "one of the most dominant West Coast underground rappers in the game." Snoop should know--it was Tha-X-To-Tha-Z's smoking verse that pushed Tha Doggfather's hit single, "B Please" (from his No Limit Top Dogg album) into the crossover zone. Xzibit's latest release shows that the artist formerly known as king of the underground battle rhymers is angling to take over the mainstream. He's laid out his blueprint flawlessly. The diabolical Dr. Dre is the executive producer of this project, so it has that platinum sheen. The beats (provided by Battle Cat and Rockwilder, among others) are skull-crackers. Walk-on appearances by the likes of DJ Quik, Tha Alkaholiks, and Compton's favorite crooner, Nate Dogg, help keep things moving. Look out for the Blastmaster KRS-One, who winds up playing the Flava Flav role to Xzibit's KRS on "Kenny Parker Show 2001," and Eminem, who besides rhyming, also produced "Don't Approach Me," which is basically the flip side of Em's own "Stan". --Rebecca Levine Amazon.com

THIS IS XZBIT'S BEST WORK. XZBIT IS PROBABLY THE MOST UNDERRATED MC IN THE GAME. BUT HE REALLY PROVES HIMSELF ON THIS ALBUM. THIS ALBUM HAS A WHOLE BUNCH OF COLLABORATIONS, INCLUDING SNOOP DOGG, DR. DRE, EMINEM, NATE DOGG, AND ERICK SERMON. ALL THE TRACKS ARE FIRE, EXCEPT 4 MAYBE 2 OR 3 SONGS. IF UR INTO WESTCOAST RAP OR GANGSTA RAP IN GENERAL, U DEFINITELY NEED 2 COP THIS ONE.
March 15, 2007 | | Good album but its kind of flawed though{3 and 1/2 stars}
Standout tracks:FRONT 2 BACK, BEEN A LONG TIME, U KNOW, X(great first single), ALKAHOLIK(last match up with the Liks), KENNY PARKER SHOW 2001(does justice to the old classic), DONT APPROACH ME(X and Em killed it), BEST OF THINGS and GET YOUR WALK ON. Filler: D.N.A.(lame plus Snoop made it worser than it had to be!), Rimz and Tirez(zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Im up stap slapping me!), F***** you right(kindergarten lyrics playskool beat), Sorry im away so much(Disrespectful to the old classic joint FOUNDATION), Double Time and Loud & Clear(not a good song to end the album with). Bottom Line: Restless is good but its inferior to At The Speed of Life and 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz. Dont get me wrong songs like U know, Alkaholik, Dont approach me, Get your walk on, Kenny Parker Show 2001 etc gives this album strong replay value but C'mon! The Xzibit I know would never make records like F***** you right, Rimz and Tirez and the superwack D.N.A.! This is Dr Dre's doing. Despite these flaws this album is a good companion piece to his first two albums and is a distant memory to Man Vs Machine.
November 15, 2006 | | here is a look at 1 of the better to best rappers of the late 90s 2 early 00s
yesterday night i was listening to some of xzibit burning hits, such as What You See Is What You Get, Front to Back, Get Your Walk on, and X those songs that I recently mention were his finest hits that should have put him into megastadom while he did indeed become a rap idol he was not the man of hip hop he had to do other projects from having short roles in successful films, such as the 8 mile and the wash his upcoming movie starring the rock and him hits theatres in mid september to get him over with his fans he still does his pimp my ride show which is one of my favorite shows on tv up there with real world vs road rules and 106-n-park the show let me discover xzibit's amusing and kool personality every episode he talks about how mess up driver's cars are that takes it to the car garbage to get it looking right that show is doing so well that it was briefly featured in another super show called bonodocks a black cartoon sitcom that is aired on cartoon network now when u see a famous person on any cartoon show it is an indication that da person has made an influence throughout the world i heard that xzibit is submitting another album this fall something he does every 2 years his last album did not get alot of recognition compared to his late 90s albums while hey now was without a doubt a good song it was not as special as his breakout hits in the past but it would have been nice if he would have made another music video or two or the hot 97 could have played one of his other 2004 songs from his album that they considered a knockout in 2004 and 2005 i hope his 2006 album does really well because if his album does go off the chart it is possible that he will probably submit an album every year instead of two years but i understand he still has his show pimp my ride to worry about which is a show i don't want to see cancel anytime soon whether he makes an album annually or biannually as long as xzibit is working i am satisfy the guy is too talented and deserves to do big things for himself

Mr X-2-The-Z's 3rd album Restless was actually the first album I have bought by him or anyone in the Liwkit Family. If anyone said that this was his best album, you must have not heard his first two. This is just Xzibit expanding from this Likwit Fam, and now trying to hang with more popular artists such as Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg (Tash tried to do the same thing but as you see, it didn't work for him).
After seeing the "Front 2 Back" video, I wanted to get his CD. After listening to it a few times, I see that Xzibit's lyrical skills hasn't really changed since 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz, but just trying to shoot for mainstream status. The debut single "X" is a perfect example of what I'm saying (Not to mention having Snoop Dogg do the outro was any appealing). "Don't Approach Me" is a good song, only because Eminem's verses are better than his. "F***in' You Right" sounds flat out terrible to me.
There are some times where he can kick it back to the Alkaholik era. "Alkaholic" which features Tha Alkaholiks and Erick Sermon will appeal to those who liked him back on the 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz CD. "Kenny Parker Show 2001" is where he finally stepped up his skills and spit rhymes like he was back on At The Speed Of Life. He actually finishes the CD off on a good note on the song "Loud And Clear" features vocals from King Tee and Defari who are also part of the Likwit Fam.
This CD isn't anything special to me who is a big fan of Xzibit's work, but it's also not his worst (Listen to Man Vs. Machine to see how bad he can get), but it proves to me that he has the skills to rock the mic, but at the same time tries to go a different route. This album has half great tracks and half bad tracks. Unfortunately things haven't been the same for him since this CD. Recommended for fans who liked Xzibit since he appeared on Snoop Dogg's "B Please"
Standout Tracks: Front 2 Back, Alkaholic, Kenny Parker Show 2001, Don't Approach Me, Rims and Tires, Get Your Walk On, and Loud And Clear.
April 29, 2006 | | Great album, maybe the best from Xzibit!?
After I heard all Xzibit albums, I realized that this album is the best work from Xzibit. Altough, all of his albums are great this one emphasis with the excellent production from Dr. Dre and with the good guest stars.
