Damhnait Doyle's album 'Shadows Wake Me' has 12 beautifully written and sang songs on it. Damhnait proves she can sing well and her songs have a unique twist on them. My favourite song is 'A List A Things', the CD's opener because many people could relate to it. An overall good CD. March 21, 2004

Despite the recent flock of female singer/songwriters, Damhnait Doyle hasn't had a lot of success in terms of record sales even though she is probably more talented than most of the popular singers out there. Her newest release, 2000's "Hyperdramatic" did fairly well in Canada and thanks to that success I found her debut album, "Shadows Wake Me". Damhnait's voice is very unique and it has a beauty all in its own. Her lyrics are pretty simple and so is the music, but this is still an amazing album. My favourite song on here is "Shadows Wake Me" - it's just so haunting and Damhnait's vocals are outstanding. If you are lucky enough to stumble across this CD, buy it! Just a sidenote - Damhnait is from Canada and not Ireland... June 16, 2001

WORTH THE MONEY...I LIKE IT!

SHADOWS WAKE ME breaks the monotony of pop music. Damhnait (pronounced Dav-en-ayt) hails from Ireland with great talent. At the ripe old age of 16, Miss Doyle's smooth and melodic pipes enrich the dramatic lyrics of all 12 songs. I wouldn't call Damhnait a screamer. She hits most of her notes fairly soft.

The song A LIST OF THINGS has been over-played on the radio in 96. This is the only song from the album which has made it to airplay. LAS VEGAS, MYSTERY, SIGNAL HILL AND SHORELINE are all dramatically thrilling or haunting tracks. Damhnait uses her voice to set the mood. For example, SHORELINE is one of those songs which sees a dreary, misty island where she's walking in nothing but a nightie.

AS I ROVED OUT is the last track. Damhnait uses olde Irish/English lyrics. I am always amused to hear this song. The other tracks are okay, but not as interesting as the mentioned tracks. I don't know who to compare Miss Doyle. And I won't risk comparing her either. Everyone's tastes in music are different.

Take some time to listen to this wonderful CD. I don't think you will be displeased. Listen to it then buy it or not. Did my review help you? January 20, 2001
