This album gets 5 stars. The remastered sound quality gets 5 stars. I bought this when it first came out on cassette tape, and picked up the vinyl version a few years later when I started DJing.

The only reason I am giving this 1 star is because Tommy Boy Records, in their infinite wisdom, decided to put an edited version of "On Fire" on this "Tommy Boy 20th Anniversary Series" edition. The length of the original "On Fire" was 6:23, but on this CD it is only 4:21 long. They took out Daddy-O's entire verse from "On Fire" and are now deciding to call it "Paul's Groove".

On the original version of this album, "Paul's Groove" was an extended instrumental of "Bust That Groove", but now "Paul's Groove" is Daddy-O's verse from "On Fire". It's George Lucas screwing around with your favorite sci-fi movies.

I was expecting to get the original songs, in their entirety, with the only difference being that they've been remastered for CD release. August 21, 2006

Although "In Full Gear" gets more press because of the inclusion of "Talkin' All That Jazz," "On Fire" actually holds together better as a full length album. Decidedly more b-boy in mentality (with hard punchy drum patterns) than the aforementioned second LP, Daddy-O and company shine over Prince Paul's precocious production skills (which are obvious even at this early juncture). "4-Ever My Beat," "Faye," and "Just Say Stet" were as popular as "Eric B Is President" (Eric B & Rakim), "Brooklyn's In The House" (Cutmaster DC) and "The Bridge" (MC Shan) upon release. Many old school enthusiasts champion the likes of the Ultramagnetic MCs, Boogie Down Productions, Run-DMC, etc. as the vanguards of that era. It would behoove them to include Stetsasonic amongst those names especially on the basis of this album. October 17, 2001

This remastered edition of Stetsasonics 'On Fire' is remarkable, not that we didn't expect this sort of quality, Stetsasonic were truly leaders of their time, craftsmen of hip hop as we know it today.

Every track on this record is great, though Fatboy Slims remix of A.F.R.I.C.A is a standout for me. Fatboy Slim really does the song justice, an excellent rendition of a great track.

I recommend this album to all Stetsasonic fans. No. I recommend it to all hip hop fans. Do yourself a favour, get out there and buy this album, put it in the player, press repeat and listen all day long. You will never get bored. I guarantee it. March 30, 2001
