| A word of caution, I think... |
If you're like me and you're interested in buying this CD because you've heard the sexy, sultry "Come" and beautiful, upbeat "Four Seasons" from the Inuyasha series and movies, a word of caution... The songs on this cd are NOTHING like those two songs. NOTHING!!!
Where "Come" is mellow and sexy and "Four Seasons" is soothing and absolutely gorgeous, this CD isn't like that at all. The majority of the songs on this disc are laden with very, very techno heavy, fast beats and rhythms. In almost every song, ms. Amuro is singing in a much higher pitched voice than I experienced with the two songs mentioned above.
This is not at all what I expected, so naturally, I'm greatly disappointed. I figured her style would be consistent, and that a "best singles" CD would be great... this is not the case when an artists style does a 180 degree flip in the past couple of years. To be fair, however, if I give it a chance, it will probably grow on me. The shock of it not being what I thought it would be is disheartening at the moment. I expected one thing and instead feel like I just purchased the Hamster Dance soundtrack or something. :-p
If you want something more like "Come" and "Four Seasons" get her Style or Queen of Hip-Pop CDs. I know I am!
I do enjoy the song "Dreaming I was Dreaming." It's a little slower and less techno-ish than all the other songs on the CD, maybe even a little jazzy/funky... but that's the only one that caught my attention upon first listen.
Anyway, this is just a word of caution so you're not sitting here upset and wanting your $14 back like me. :) I just don't want anyone else to be let down.
Well, it'll make a good work out CD at least. April 29, 2006
