20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Andy Gibb gives us twelve wonderful tracks by the awesomely talented late Andy Gibb. Andy could take a song and breathe life into it in a way unlike most artists could; and his work here proves that. Unfortunately, this CD has only twelve songs of his and that doesn't convince me that this is a true "best of" compilation.

"I Just Want To Be Your Everything" stuns me with its beauty; I love to hear this tune by Andy and it always makes me smile when I hear it. Andy sings very well and his voice is able to convey all the subtle nuances of the words that he sings. The musical arrangement reflects a lot of forethought as well; the strings help a lot. "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" has that late `70s feel to it even though it's certainly not disco; Andy delivers this song with a lot of style and the musical interlude is very beautiful. Andy sings "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" to perfection and this impresses me a lot.

"Shadow Dancing" has a pop/disco flavor to it and the backup vocalists help Andy's performance to be even better. They harmonize and Andy himself never sings a superfluous note! The key and tempo changes on "Shadow Dancing" really work well for this number, too. "An Everlasting Love" has a faster, upbeat tempo that is positively infectious and I predict that you will enjoy "An Everlasting Love" very much!

"(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away" is a tender love song that Andy delivers with panache and he wears his heart on his sleeve for this one! Andy sings "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away" with great sensitivity and I always liked this ballad.

"Desire" features Andy's vocals squarely in the spotlight; and listen for "Time Is Time." "Time Is Time" has excellent guitar work and Andy sings this well with a great backup chorus. The piano also works well for "Time Is Time."

"Will You Love Me Tomorrow" ends the CD on a strong note with Andy doing a sublime cover of this fine ballad; I know you'll like this number very much.

Overall, this music is incredible--there's just not enough of it. Casual fans of Andy Gibb will probably be satisfied with this album; but the more serious fan will undoubtedly want more than just this. This gets three stars in my book for being too short and diehard fans would do well to find more substantial albums by Andy Gibb available on this website.

The Best Collection!!!!!

I was very pleased with this album.It has all the best songs and for the price it is well worth it!!All the songs Sound as good as they did when they were released!!I would recommend this album to everyone. August 14, 2007

Good collection, but we need more Andy

There's not much I can add about this CD that hasn't already been covered by the other reviewers. Basically, it's the only Andy Gibb album in print now, and it has all but one of his charted hits ("All I Have To Do Is Dream" with Victoria Principal, which as far as I know has NEVER been on CD). If you're just a casual Andy Gibb fan, this album will definitely serve you well. However, if you want more from Andy than a hits compilation, you are in a bit of a quandary. Andy's 3 original albums, "Flowing Rivers", "Shadow Dancing" and "After Dark" were released on CD in 1998, but are all now out of print and go for upwards of $30 and $40 (or more) as used CD's. Therefore, I would like to make a suggestion to the folks at Universal Music: How about having Andy Gibb in your 2CD "Gold" series of compilations? His first two albums could fit onto Disc One (I checked it - it would run somewhere around 79 minutes and 40 seconds). Disc Two could consist of the "After Dark" album plus "Time Is Time", "Me (Without You)", "All I Have To Do Is Dream", "Man On Fire", and maybe (hopefully) some previously unreleased material by Andy that might be sitting around in the vaults at Universal. (Even a rarity like the single edit of "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" would be good as a bonus track). In that case, his regular albums would be back in print and fans of Andy would be able to enjoy more of his music beyond the hits. Another suggestion might be to have Andy in your "Definitive Collection" line of CD's. Since that is a single disc series, all 10 of Andy's "Hot 100" chart hits could be on there as well as selected album cuts. These are all just suggestions, but hopefully they'll be taken into consideration. Andy is often overlooked (not surprisingly) because of his being the younger brother of the Bee Gees, and it's time that he's given his due. A "Gold" or "Definitive Collection" would be a great place to start. August 7, 2007

Best of the Best

If you're a fan of the Bee Gees you'll undoubtedly love this wonderful collection of Andy Gibb. It would be an understatement to say I love this collection. It's money worth. August 21, 2006

Any Andy Gibb fan should have this one!

Man on Fire was one of the last songs Andy recorded before he died and it is great!! I love it! I was a huge Andy fan (and Bee Gees fan, still love them) and I collect ALL Gibb material.
Just want to be counted as yet another fan who recommends this. July 12, 2006
