I was looking already a long time for this cd because they didn't make it on lp anymore, and then i found it on amazon! I ordered it immediatly and i'm very happy about it. there's only one little thing. I already had another cd of them en there are a few songs that are on the other cd.but anyway, if you love classic music, buy it! August 29, 2007

I have purchased Mantovani albums since the dawn of the stereo era, buying several of the recording in all formats -- LP, 8 track, reel-to-reel, cassette and CD. "Latin Rendevouz" was always one of my favorites. The re-release is absolutely great news as we need Mantovani more than ever in these troubled times with the decline of our cultural values. Instrumental music is almost a lost art form, but the arrangements and performance of these Latin pieces are simply magnificent. The three songs that were in the original American version on London's PS295, but omitted here, are "Estrellita", "Amapola" and "Granada", but the British version offers instead "La Golondrina", "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas" and "A Garden in Granada". Very beautiful treasure and a nice restoration. I hope that Dutton / Vocalion will follow through with more titles. July 21, 2002

The reviewer notes at the time of this writing that only four copies remain on sale through Amazon. This is not surprising, because the two CD's are reissued/remastered versions of two of the best recordings made by Mantovani and his Orchestra in 1963 and 1965 respectively. The sound on the LPs or 8-track tapes back in those years was excellent then, but it is richer and cleaner now. But its the beauty and originality of these Mantovani arrangements of Latin favorites that will be, like all great art, eternal. A good number of these tracks have been re-recorded by the present day orchestra bearing Mantovani's name, but the careful listener will hear the difference in the orchestra's virtuoso performances of the orginals made in the presence of their Maestro. Moreover, a few tracks included on the second CD, "OLE", such as Mantovani's own composition, Picolo Bolero, and his marvelous arrangement of Carmen Fantasy, are not found anywhere else. Those two tracks alone are worth the price of this CD set. But you will get so much more in listening pleasure by adding this to your collection. With only four CDs remaining, it is a good sign that Mantovani's popularity remains intact, and offers the promise that many more of his original recordings will be reissued on CDs so that new generations of listeners will purchase, listen, and ensure the immortality of Mantovani's name and his spectacular, affecting music.
