This is a good greatest hits. Good beats and she was nice on the mic. She also proved that she can be very vicious in battle on bite this and bad mama. A true hip hop album. Any old school hip hop head will be satisfied with this. Now you probably wonder why I give this a 3. Well Shante's high pitch voice happens to get very annoying after the first 6 tracks. I normally have to throw on somethin else, comeback and pick up where i left off. For me, this is an album i can only listen to once in a blue moon. Usually when I crave to hear a female rapper that actually has skill.

The cd is hot Roxanne Shante was by far the hottest female mc back in the day. I think the cd is missing a few tracks like Loosey's Rap, Roxanne Revenge the Street version and this free style they use to play on wbls called Wash Ya Body. It was like an answer record to Doug's fresh La Di Da Di the cut was tight. I think who ever buys this will understand waht old school was all about hot lyrcs.

Roxanne Shante....excuse me... Dr.Roxanne Shante, pioneered this thing and blazed a trail for female emcee's to shine, sure there was Sha rock,Sequence,Mercedes Ladies,& Lisa Lee before her, none have made the impact Shante made when she came through in late 84 kicking the door open becoming the first commercially viable female rapper. A nice collection of material here a lot better then the first inception of a greatest hits collection that came a few years prior, however some classic jems are missing of course "Quuen of Rox","Loosey's Rap"w/Rick James and some of her not so lyrical yet quirky battle stuff from her fued with J.J.Fad "Skeezer".overall I enjoy the CD bring backs memories of slicked back pony tails, and huge doorknocker bamboo earrings, and a fiesty attitude, come on we all have known a Shante.
