About Michael Jackson - Bad
"We wanted a tough album," producer Quincy Jones recalls in a bonus interview on this special edition of Bad. Though the 1987 blockbuster would appear to be Michael Jackson's most personal statement to date--9 of its 11 cuts were written solely by him--its appeal also rested more on craft than the idiosyncratic art of Thriller and Off the Wall. At the same time, most of Bad has aged well in spite of its digital brittleness and MIDI treatments of gems like Jimmy Smith's organ solo on the title track. While the third best of his first three Epic solo discs, Bad carries a lot of what people love about Jackson's music. This disc also benefits from two fine outtakes, the exciting, uptempo "Streetwalker" and the Carpenters homage "Fly Away." Either could easily have extended the record's run of hit singles. --Rickey Wright Amazon.com essential recording

i LOVE all of these songs and this is a great reminder of my childhood and i can't stop listening to the fun, energized bonus tracks. the background information between bonus tracks is not something i necessarily would want to listen to over and over, but it might be informative for some. Terrific album.
December 11, 2007The more I listen to this album the more I love it. "Liberian Girl" must be one of the most under appreciated songs of the century. There's so much emotion on it. He wrote it in 1983 but it didn't appear until this album.
Most of these songs are up tempo. The best are Smooth Criminal, Just Good Friends, and Another Part of Me.

it only seems like yesterday I was a kindergarten student and the song bad was all over the place LOL I didn't end up getting this record until many years later though and it's mj's most consistent album from start to finish with memorable melodies and hooks all throughout and of course, some of his best videos ever, especially Moonwalker. I think this album should get a 20 year anniversary like Thriller because it was at one point the second biggest selling album of all time, with a record breaking tour and 5 #1 singles

this album flows so great and the sound is consistent. And don't get me started on the brilliant singing and songwriting. Definitely a must have from michael jackson, and I like it better than Off the Wall & Thriller!
October 26, 2006 | | JACKSON'S BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME! | |
The BAD album is one of those albums that in 2006 it still sounds up 2 date and sets itself apart from da rest. BAD is often considered a flop by music critics b/c it didn't sell over 50 million copies like Thriller, which is stupid as hell. Bad sold over 20 million copies and became the first album to put up 5 #1 singles. The album also wuz in the top 5 4 every week for 9 months. The singles dat hit #1 were BAD, The Way U Make Me Feel, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Man in the Mirror and Dirty Diana. Another Part of Me Hit #11 and Smooth Crimial hit #7. Those singles are all great, along with the much underrated Liberian Girl, Just Good Friends and Leave Me Alone. Just Good Friends sounds tight az hell with Stevie Wonder in it. The Bonus edition also features 2 songs that should've made it onto da album- the fast up beat song Streetwalker and the tight pop/ballard Fly Away.
