Such an angelic voice at such a young age. These are Doris' first recordings. The Jazz Factory has done a marvelous job with these 50+ year old recordings. Buy this first , then save up for the Bear Family boxes. Man , what a voice ! October 13, 2007

When I placed the order for this CD set, there were a couple of questions lingering on my mind. I had heard only two songs from this collection, would the others be as satisfying? Would the sound quality be decent given that the collection was compiled from the 78s? Without reviews and song samples to guide me, the risk was considerable. When I got the CDs and turned them on, my questions were answered favourably. The sound quality was quite good. There were both swing songs and ballads in the collection. Doris Day sang the quick-tempo songs magnificently with her crisp, cheerful voice. As for the ballads, she imbued each of them with the appropriate emotion. Les Brown of course lived up to the band of renown epithet. If you like Doris Day because of the catchy tunes she sang in the 50's and 60's, you should try this set as an adventure and you will be transported into a foreign territory but with the same familiar voice. If you like Doris Day because of her artistry or if you are a fan of the swing bands, there's no reason not to buy this one. July 6, 2007
