About Destiny's Child - This Is the Remix

This Is the Remix shows just why Destiny's Child is such a powerhouse: they have wicked songs that can survive almost any treatment. Not that the selections, culled from the group's three preceding albums, are mishandled here. The Neptunes aren't quite at the top of their game on "Emotion," but Timbaland's sexy remix of "Say My Name" is one of the best things he's done--and that's saying a lot. Despite too many rap interludes, the CD ends on a high note with feverish Maurice Joshua mixes of "Jumpin', Jumpin'," "Bills, Bills, Bills," and "So Good" that are simply fantastic dance-floor burners. The one misstep is the tucked-away "Heard a Word," a track from Michelle Williams's solo album. Still, this is state-of-the-art mainstream R&B designed to tide fans over until the triumvirate goes back to the studio together. --Elisabeth Vincentelli Amazon.com

Ahh... the good ol' days of Destiny's Child! I loved them so much and was helplessly obsessed with them. (Well... I guess I still am.) So obsessed that I would get into verbal arguments with classmates that made fun of them or called them classless, etc. (Don't get me started on what it was like to be a huge Mariah Carey fan during the Glitter/mental breakdown period. Haha.) But I digress.

As a fan, I bought almost every maxi-single they ever came out with and I played them out. When Destiny's Child did remixes, they did them all the way. They re-recorded vocals, wrote new lyrics, and in the case of the Timbaland Remix of "Say My Name," they would create a completely different song. So when I heard they were coming out with a remix album, I was ecstatic.

Even though I already have most of these remixes (and even a few album tracks) on CD already, I'm glad that they compiled the best on one disc. And the amazing Neptunes Remix of "Emotions" was worth the purhcase alone for me. This remix album is an overall enjoyable experience and I still listen to it all of the time. July 6, 2007

This is the Remix is one the best albums from Destiny's Child. The only problem I had was with the remix of Emotions, but nevertheless, the album was very good. I recommend that everyone purchase it. This album is proof of Destiny's Child's style and versatility. The album reinteraates Destiny's Child's vocal abilities and their ability to make their best songs their best songs again. This is the Remix is album is one I recommend to the ones that love to dance and groove. This is an album that you won't want to pass up. November 20, 2004

The remixes on this album are great. But the set is a tad disappointing. "Survivor" Remix has verse 2 cut. And If you own The Vinyl record edition (Which this review is on), "Heard a word" is missing. The "Jumpin Jumpin" remix is great. It starts with the So-So Def remix and then bursts out into a slow remix with new vocals. Other than that, This is a great remix album. It also helps cut down on having to buy all of DC's cd and vinyl singles, which a lot of the remixes appear on. November 3, 2004

THIS IS THE REMIX is a great remix cd overall.. i just think that they were being a little bit lazy... if they had the strength to release a remix album then bring new material not old turned new...

dont get me wrong.. this is one of my favourites by DC3...

my favourite song on here is "dot" the original was not that appealing at all until i heard the remix... this song is a constant in my cd changer in the car...

other car bangers "emotions" (neptunes), "bug-a-boo" (refugee remix) "no, no, no" (extended) w/ wyclef and "jumpin jumpin" (so so def).

I am not feelin the 'survivor' (extended) because 1. not extended at all, 2. da brat is not rapping as good in it, and 3. michelle's part is cut out of it (her part in 'survivor' is the best in the whole song). also, the 'so good' is not all that great. 'independent woman pt. 2' is the worst song DC has ever put out.

overall this cd is alright but most of the remixes are great, and most of all of them suck...
