Marc Anthony - Mended

It's impossible to dislike Puerto Rican superstar Marc Anthony, even if his English-language material sits safely in pop's middle road. Mended, Anthony's follow-up to last year's sweltering salsa collection Libre, features the same midtempo grooves and emotive ballads that made his 1999 crossover effort a smash--and a textbook example of how record labels sometimes water down passionate Latino artists for U.S. audiences (see also Shakira). Nothing on Mended is particularly unlistenable or offensive, but there isn't much to get excited about either. The lilting pop gem "I Need You" (also included in Spanish) and the sweet sentiments of "Everything You Do" are nice diversions, but producer Cory Rooney has candy-coated everything for mass consumption. Anthony is a powerful, fiery vocalist, and he deserves better than run-of-the-mill arrangements and puppy-love lyrics. On Mended, he's barely able to break a sweat. --Joey Guerra Amazon.com

great CD

I admit that I haven't been a Marc Anthony fan but am now after listening to this CD........he has an amazing voice and the song selections are well worth listening to........ June 9, 2007

Mended

I truly enjoy Marc Anthony's music. I feel very proud as a Puerto Rican that he was able to make a cd album with english lyrics but to the melody and rythm of the Island of Puerto Rico. April 2, 2007

Good One!

This is really a good one, nothing more nothing less. All the tracks starting from "Love won't get any better" to "Everything you do" its good quality music. But his album just doesn't have that "killer punch". You know what I mean?
Everything is so easy going and naive kind of a thing. Marc is a really good singer and should sing some good quality stuff.
Overall: Something worth buying but not worth remembering.

"Okay"

Marc Anthony made a good first impression with this CD but after a while it got boring. My favorite song is I've Got You (track 3 on the CD). It is a very fast paced song that is a little confusing but I stuck with it. It is on two seperate times which I didn't get at all. Afterthat, the rest of the music was mediorcre. Not Marc Anthony's best album but not his worst.
