The Fantomas, The Melvins - Millennium Monsterwork

LOVE IT

IT SEEMS LIKE BARELY ANYONE LIKES THIS CD BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH! I AM A HUGE FAN OF THE MELVINS AND THE FANTOMAS, AND THEY ARE GREAT TOGETHER! THIS CD IS VERY INTENSE AND IT'S NOT LIKE ANYTHING YOU'LL HEAR ON THE RADIO. I LOVE BOTH OF THE SINGERS, BUT IN SOME OF THE SONGS WHERE THEY SING TOGETHER IT DOESN'T SOUND THAT GREAT. I STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM TO ANY MELVINS OR FANTOMAS FAN, OR ANYONE WHO'S LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND HEAVY. June 21, 2006

it seems like i'm the only one who likes this album...

First of all im not a kid, i'm just writing on here because I don't have a email to an account with. I am a big fan of the Melvins and the only Fantomas album I've heard is suspended animation but I love it. I was browsing thru amazon when I found this. I gave the sound clips a listen and it sounded interesting and different. So I decided to buy it, and I love it! It has a few flaws so I could rate it four stars or maybe even three stars but I love it so much that i can't. I highly recommend this/ June 21, 2006

They came so close

This is a good album but there are a few problems that keep it from reaching it's full potential.

Problem 1 - The quality. The drums sound pretty bad on this recording. It really is painful to listen to sometimes but for the most part you can ignore it because Dale and Dave are great drummers. The bass is very difficult to hear as well.

Problem 2 - Some of the songs just don't sound good. The Omen and Page 1 come to mind.

Problem 3 - Not enough Melvins and some of the Melvins songs that are here are cut in half. (Hooch and Skin Horse)

Problem 4 - And this is the big one, the entire setlist isn't here! Below is the setlist that they played that night.

Yea, it's depressing knowing that a few of those weren't on it. It also would have been nice if this was a dvd instead of a cd.


But despite these flaws I do find myself listening to this quite a bit. It took a few listens to get past the flaws but once you do it's a pretty cool live album. I'd only recomend this for the die hard Fantomas fans. October 3, 2005

a couple good songs, but overall not impressive

This albums has two good songs ('Ol Black Stooges and Bit) but other than that this album isn't very impressive. Mike Patton's vocal range sounds very limited and often not in tune. His vocals are the least impressive part on this album.
The only thing about this album that make it worth having are the 2 good songs, 'Ol Black Stooges and Bit. I was also disappointed that Chariot Choogle wasn't on this CD. I wish they had performed that song.

Better The Melvins without Patton...

I think this is one of the worst works named "Melvins".Named,because of this is not The Melvins but just Fantomas & Patton...Everyone who wants to buy a Melvins cd have to look further.It's better the Melvins live at Slim's(same place of this)for New Years Eve 2001/2002,if you have luck to find it somewhere...
