About Enrique Iglesias - Vivir
For his sophomore work, Enrique Iglesias demonstrated a willingness to go beyond the predictable soft rock/pop balladry that marked his first album. Smart, considering that having good looks and a famous father can only carry one so far. On Vivir, Iglesias throws down the rock-guitar edge of "Volveré," on remembering a good love, and the rhythmic pop of "Revolución," a brooding tune about defiance. Then there's the reggae-flavored "Lluvia Cae." On the ballad side, Iglesias injects emotional depth on "Miente," a passionate stance on refusing to accept the end. All these tunes are alternatively propelled by guitars, piano, and/or percussion. The rest of the CD is pretty much passionless puffery. Still, Iglesias is a young, developing artist, and it is good to see a willingness to try new things, especially in a pop field where supply exceeds demand. --Ramiro Burr Amazon.com

Average user review:| Enrique Iglesias - Not Julio - Enrique! |
Just because Enrique Iglesias' father is probably now a legend in both Spanish and American music, Enrique Iglesias has undoubtedly developed a tremendous following on his own. I neither compare him to his father, nor would I ever, and the only reason I even mention Julio is that so many others are always writing about the two in a side by side comparison as if they came as part of a package deal! (Amazon - that might be a good marketing technique!) Regardless, this CD is truly a good work of Enrique, as is evidenced by the three chart toppers off of this album - Miente, Solo En Ti, and Enamorado Por Primera Vez.
Enrique is definitely a Latin Music Pop Star, and well-deserved. The only mistake Enrique made was upon an interview, when asked what the one thing he would change in his life, he said he would change his male member! Now, of course, he is teased to no-end about his declaration to the world that he is unpleased with his birthright! August 8, 2007
| ENRIQUE'S SECOND / MAKES U VIVIR LOVE... |
| Vivir |
| An excellent vehicle for a unique Latin voice |
"Vivir" starts out strong with the romantic "Enamorado por Primera Vez" and then moves on to "Al Despartar," an intense ballad with a rock flavor. Then comes "Lluvia Cae," a bubbly, fun song that Enrique tears into with total commitment. Other notable selections on the CD are the intense "Miente" and the stirring "Revolucion."
Although Enrique has gotten a lot of attention lately for his English-language "crossover" work, I find his most compelling songs to be the type of Spanish language songs found on "Vivir." This is an outstanding CD, and an essential choice for fans of Latin pop. October 25, 2001
