Eddie Fisher who could belt out a song with the best of them...not bad for a kid born on August 10, 1928 from Philadelphia, PA...finally a collection of tunes from my favorite singer when I was growing up in the midwest...his talent was enormous and the songs where right from the heart... Collectables Records and RCA Victor presents "EDDIE FISHER SINGS" (1952)..."I'M IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE" (1952)..."CHRISTMAS WITH EDDIE FISHER (bonus track)" (1953)...featuring the son of Russian Jewish immigrants who were so proud of their boy Mr. Eddie Fisher

The young crooner Eddie Fisher was a protégé of the famous comedian Eddie Cantor (If You Knew Susie Like I Know Susie)...during the '50s Mr. Fisher was RCA Victor's top-selling pop vocalist along with Perry Como and Elvis Presley...Eddie's signature song was "Any Time" which always opened his 15 minute TV Show called "Coke Time" (1953) and was universally the spokesman for the soft drink

"Eddie Fisher Sings", featuring very early Fisher with sparkling arrangements by Hugo Winterhalter and His 65 piece orchestra...Hugo and Eddie worked together many times...listed in alphabetical order:

A LITTLE BIT INDEPENDENT
AM I WASTING MY TIME ON YOU
I LOVE YOU BECAUSE
I REMEMBER WHEN
IF YOU SHOULD LEAVE ME
JUST SAY I LOVE HER
SORRY
THINKING OF YOU (from the film "Three Little Words" - with Fred Astaire & Red Skelton)

Second part of the album is "I'M IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE", another early outing with some of the best tunes of the day:

EVERYTHING I HAVE IS YOURS (from the film "Everything I have Is Yours")
FULL MOON AND EMPTY ARMS (based on Rachmaninoff's "Second Piano Concerto")
HOLD ME
I'M IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE
I'VE GO YOU UNDER MY SKIN (Cole Porter)
PARADISE
THAT OLD FEELING
YOU'LL NEVER KNOW (from "Hello, Frisco, Hello" - with Alice Faye)

Lastly we have "Christmas with Eddie Fisher", featuring Eddie's best Holiday Album during his RCA Victor years...with eight songs inclusive and Hugo Winterhalter's Orchestra:

CHRISTMAS DAY (another wonderful Holiday treat)
HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS (RIGHT DOWN SANTA CLAUS LANE) (Gene Autry)
JINGLE BELLS
O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL (ADESTE FIDELES)
SILENT NIGHT
THAT'S WHAT CHRISTMAS MEANS TO ME (the lyrics will have you teary-eyed)
WHITE CHRISTMAS (from the film "Holiday Inn")
YOU'RE ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS (one of my favorite Fisher Christmas tunes)

Bonus Track featuring Eddie & Hugo Winterhalter that will take you back to your roots:

CHRISTMAS EVE IN MY HOMETOWN (Stan Zabvka/Don Lipton) - a rare Christmas single that never appeared on CD before.

Fisher's voice was clear and strong, with a little extra something that grabbed you when he hit those high notes...as he firmly established his name in lights and made the world take notice...had everyone of these selections on 45's, EP's and LP's, only those of us who truly loved his work with never forget him...hope this release gives you some insight of what a great entertainer he was.

I bought this CD and I think it is a great addition to an Eddie Fisher fan's collection. I especially like the Christmas CD,he was at his best when singing those songs, he sounded like he was having such fun! I bought the EP Eddie Fisher Sings many a year ago and played it to death so now I can enjoy it on this CD.
I would recommend this CD to anyone who collects good music from the 1950's. I think he had a great voice and enjoy listening to this CD. September 9, 2002
