Those of you who didn't know the female, Latina emcee, Angie Martinez became well aware of her, upon hearing "If I Could Go," one of her biggest hits. The song got plenty of airplay, when it was released back in the summer of 2002. The tune has the combination of a great hook, a totally "sing along in the car" chorus, clever raps and a great cross-over sound. I always envision palm trees, white sand and deep blue waters when I hear it. That's probably because it's a song about planning a vacation on the "down low." Both versions of the song are catchy. Also, the bonus cut, "Coast to Coast," is awesome. It has a great latin/hip hop flavor. It borrows one of the lines from Sade's "Smooth Operator" ("Coast to Coast/East Coast to Chicago/East LA!"), which is incorporated into the song title. Wyclef Jean guest raps, too. It's a great fusion of sounds and styles. This should be in rotation in your sound system, when you are hanging out at the beach. Very nice.....
