First steps

This album is the first release on Doghouse of the group's self-titled album which was re-released by DreamWorks Records in February 2003.

The group from Stillwater, OK had lots of material to choose from, since the two founding members Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler had been cutting demos since they were in High School

This album is packed with radio-friendly pop, from a group that has largely kept a low profile. Unfortunately, the songs on the album sound very similar, the only immediately recognizable song being "Swing Swing" from the massive airplay it received. The hit song about love lost and moving on is the high point of the album:

Days swiftly come and go.
I'm dreaming of her.
She's seeing other guys.
Emotions they stir.
The sun is gone.
The nights are long.
And I am left while the tears fall.

Did you think that I would cry.
On the phone?
Do you know what it feels like.
Being alone?

I'll find someone new.

All the songs have simple messages about relationships, good and bad, and are all great listening for a relaxing day at the beach or while on long drives.

Please why so much d--m pop

This song is too much on the pop side. We need more Punk ROCK. Punk pop really is a waste of time. the bands are all in the spot light for reasons i do not understand. We need to show what is really punk. WHOS WITH ME!! US PUNKS WILL NOT TOLLERATE THIS POP THATS GIVING US A BAD NAME! November 27, 2004

Bland pop

U may be surprised by the three stars but despite being unispired and unoriginal this cd does have some good tunes, I love swing swing but their arent really any other standouts, Despite this they dont have one poor song, just the odd one u like a little bit less. One major problem with this album is that when u listen to it u get ready to sing the chorus but u sing the rong one. All the songs sound the same, then again this is not a bad thing if u like them all. The all american rejects could b a very gd band if they exten their lyrics to things other than relationships and got rid of the drum machine which is painfully obvous on some songs( my paper heart)
All in all this isnt a standout album but not a waste of money August 7, 2004

"The All-American Rejects"

This album is everything you've been looking for in pop/rock records. Tyson Ritters catchy lyrics mixed with crunching guitars and hooking solos bring every song on this debut self-titled album that "feel good" style. Delivering each and every time. Every song fails to disapoint, and one after another kick ass rock tune makes this album the must have of 2003. Lets hope for a follow up just as good. Metal may not be dead but pop/rock is certainly getting a good look in on the music scene. July 29, 2004
